2 | Theme and Emphasis of Matt 5-7 | Matthew | Patriciam | 38438
Matthew 5-7, I believe is helping to understand how we can be blessed or happy. Help us to understand who we are. We are the salt of the earth, I believe that as saints of God, we are the reason that the earth is as it is. Because of the fact that the Holy Ghost is able to reside in us. If that was not true, where would He be? Not here on earth, because he lives in us. He has to have a vessel to dwell in. Without the fervent prayers of the righteous, there would be more choas. we are told in Matthew 5-7, that we are the ligkt of the world. If we stand on these chapters alone, we can know who we are and how we are to live. Please if you think I am not right please tell me.
3 | How does what you say link into the Serm | Matthew | H20 | 38459

4 | How does what you say link into the Serm | Matthew | dasev | 38478
dear h2o, here is another view of the sermon otm. Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets. matt5:17,18 this first major speech of the new covenant can be seen as a primer of the Lord's mission in that time and of the believer's need of instruction. many times the Lord Jesus said "you have heard that it was said...". then He went on to quote the law and then to give the meaning the study of the law might give the thoughtful jew. the pharisees had missed the point of the law and made it a meaningless ritual. Jesus brings things into sharp focus to the inner man if we will to hear and learn. and if we will then we will be the salt of the earth and known to be a healthy necessary ingredient in the earth's "diet"; and we will seen to be the light of the world, exposing all things for what they are, see ephesians 5:8 to 14 the rewards, the blessings, and the character traits necessary to their attainment are found first in matt. ch. 5:1 to 16. this is how it seems to me....wot say ye? in Christ, dasev |

6 | What is the context of the Sermon otm? | Matthew | dasev | 38539
dear h2o, as long as this is not for your doctoral thesis i'll try to get a "flow" goin' for ya. yes, certainly the kingdom or government of God and His righteousness are a if not the main theme of the sermon on the mount. in any kingdom one will find a king and his subjects. Jesus is King and we are His subjects. "Thou art Worthy o Lord for Thou hast created all things"- like us - "and for Thy pleasure they are created..." when we are found and saved by God and we begin to seek His Kingdom and Righteousness we can rightfully begin to participate in the earthly part of his Kingdom the Church. it is here we grow in grace as we repent and believe and die daily. the Bible is given to us the most precious earthly possession we can own. all other things that you or i need are added to us as we are faithful to the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1: 2 to 4 say as much or more, and verses 5 to 11 expand the theme wonderfully. the Sermon on the Mount ties together the Lord's fulfillment of the law, what it means to us in our inner man, how we should seek the reality of God's Kingdom on earth, and seek to behave as we are naked before His eyes. it also warns us that it is a straight entrance we must go through and a narrow road we must walk on which will lead us to life. we must dig DEEP and build on the Rock. |
