I am confused about this passages in Matthew 10:34-36 after reading passages in Isaiah 2:4 and Micah 4:3 prophesying that the Messiah would bring peace between nations and such: 34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn " 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law-- 36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'[5] |

Jesus will bring peace to the earth. But at that time he was speaking of the tribulation. He was sending his apostles out to preach the gospel of the kingdom. The old prophets mentioned a tribulation before the Messiah would bring peace to earth. If the Jewish people would have excepted Jesus Christ. They would have entered into the tribulation. Israel day always starts at night. It is alot like the Day of the Lord It begins when the tribulation starts which will be a very dark time. Then He will return and then there will be peace. But the Darkness must come first. Which would have happened in Matthew Chapters 10-11. At least that is what I think those verses mean if you put chapter 10 into context. Also you might want to note that there has been a lot of religious war since Jesus First coming but when he returns again there will be peace like never before. Amen. |
