1 | 1 Chronicles 28 verse 6 and 7 | 1 Chr 28:6 | ajikoe | 140485 | ||
concerning 1 Chronicles 28 verse 6 and 7 I feel very disturbing. There are 2 facts I found: 1. Salomon will be God's Son and God will become Salomon's Father instead of Jesus Christ. 2. This is conditional: that Salomon kingdom will be forever if Salomon follows God Command. This is absolutly rarely discussed in Christian groups. We can always play with the logic to approve of what we believed. In one of the commentary I found, it tells that: Concerning Temple and the Kingdom of God it is the work of Mesiah, and Concerning Salomon it is Conditional. I don't agre with it. I thought from the verses it can be seen in simple logic that : Salomon is loved by God, able to call God as his father and God calls Salomon His Son (this is unconditional) Salomon kingdom is conditional. Can you explain it to me? |

Hi ajikoe, Welcome to the forum. I would have you look at the capitalization in your post. You have written that Solomon will be God's Son and that Solomon is '"able to call God as his father [sic] and God calls Solomon His Son..." I would submit to you, then that Solomon should be thought of as God's (and David's) chosen son just as the coming Christ will be God's chosen Son to ultimately fulfill the kingdom promise. Solomon is the son and Jesus is the Son. Our view of the "(f)Father" and how we regard Him is determined by our knowledge and relationship with Him. 1 Chronicles 28:6, NASB, "And He said to me, "Your son Solomon is the one who shall build My house and My courts; for I have chosen him to be a son to Me, and I will be a father [sic] to him." 1 Chronicles 28:6, NKJ, "Now He said to me, "It is your son Solomon who shall build My house and My courts; for I have chosen him to be My son, and I will be his (Father)." 1 Chronicles 28:9, "As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve (Him) with a whole heart and a willing mind;..." Ephesians 4:6, "There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. 7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of (Christ's) gift." Ephesians 4:10, "He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, that (He) might fill all things." Ephesians 3:14, "For this reason, I bow my knees before the (Father)." Ephesians 3:21, "to (Him) be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." The parentheses are mine for comparison/contrast. From the heart, Ray |

Slight correction - Solomon is A (not the) son and Jesus is THE Son (Mark 5:7). |

Hi Searcher56, Let's talk about it some more. Expressed another way, I would say that Solomon is "the one who" according to 1 Chronicles 28:7 will build "My house and My courts;..." However, just as Solomon was a (or the) chosen son of David for the job of building the temple, Jesus was the Chosen One of God. Jesus was the only -begotten Son of God and Solomon was a chosen son to God the Father. Your choice of Mark 5:7 does not speak of THE Son, but rather speaks of the Most High God. Of course we think of the Father and the Son as one; and we know that God is Spirit. So we have to decide with the man who had the unclean spirit, "What do I have to do with (You)?", Mark 5:7. "I implore You /by God do not torment me." The man had bowed down before Jesus and worshiped Him as God; for Jesus had been saying to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit." This story relates to the passages of Scripture where it talks of not blaspheming the Holy Spirit; for Jesus did not do the works that He did by means of an unclean spirit. Jesus told the man released from demon-possession to "Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you." What great things this Man Jesus ,being recognized as God, had done for him. Mark 5:20, "And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone marveled." 1) Another passage to consider "father or Father" is 1 Chronicles 29:10 and 11. Is verse 10 talking of Israel [Jacob], David's father; or is he talking as in verse 11 of God being exulted as head over all? From the heart, Ray |
