peggling88 In the case of Jonah, God used a storm and three days in the belly of a large fish to turn Jonah back to Him. But the most significant example is God scattering the 10 tribes that made of the Northern Kingdom, by using the nation of Assryia and later using Babylon to scatter the two remaining tribes. After this "calamity" Israel never again turned to idol worship. God does use circumstances to get our attention, but only after he gives us fair warning to turn from our sin.
