1 | Elijah went to heaven alive | 2 Kin 2:11 | jlpangilinan | 36386
Is Elijah went to heaven alive? 2Ki 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. According to apostle Paul: 1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? With the assessment of Apostle Paul. Can we say that 2 kings 2:11 is wrtitten with exageration? God bless, Johnn |

2 | Elijah went to heaven alive | 2 Kin 2:11 | Greg Martin | 36389
No exaggeration. Read the whole chapter. at least from vs 1 to 14. Also read Gen 5:21-24 and Hebrews 11:5 Enoch was also taken without seeing death. So why would you think this is exaggeration? The verses you cite from 1 Cor are of the catching up (rapturo - rapture). |

3 | Elijah went to heaven alive | 2 Kin 2:11 | jlpangilinan | 36563
Please read this carefully: 1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. Enable us to enter the kingdom of heaven we have to change from mortal to immortality. That is why I am asking how could elijah went in heaven with his old body? Changing from mortal to immortality happened during the rapture, so 2 Kings 2:11 contradict the assessment of Paul in 1 cor. God bless, Johnny |

Oh, yes. I see your point. And this is a very good one. Except for one thing. Heaven was not open for them yet. Christ opened heaven. Until then the saints went to "Abraham's Bossom" see Luke 16:19-31 The Rich Man and Lazarus. But, Elijah and Enoch may very well have traded their corruptable body on the way up. We are not told the details. We are only told that they did not die, but were taken up. Alternatively, they may have traded after heaven was opened. Or they may be in a separate place such as that which was called "Abraham's Bosom" But in any case you are absolutely correct in saying that heaven will not accept any corruption or imperfection. It is the Dwelling Place of God, and no impurity can ever be found there. I highly commend you on your excellent analysis. |
