Interesting question! The reason it is a hard question to answer is because it is directed outward. You ask "Is it proper for believers to ..." It would be better to ask, "Is it proper for me to fall, touch and pray in front of a wooden cross during worship?" That question cuts all the potential for judging others out of the answer. (See: Matthew 7:1-2, Luke 6:37). Answering the question only for myself ... I would find the practice distracting. By focusing on the cross, I think that my attention would be shifted away from God. In my opinion, the real lesson to be learned has nothing to do with worship, but with judging others. Just do your own thing, and strive not to judge your friends. If your friends treat you badly because of the way you worship consider Romans 14:14-16. |
