1 | Earth will abide for ever? | Ecclesiastes | Morant61 | 75698 | ||
Greetings Johnny! One way that I would address this question is to point out the unique character of Eccesiastes and Proverbs. Both of these works contain general statements which can be pressed too far if not careful. For instance, Ecc. 1:6 says, "The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course." Are we to conclude that the wind only blows to the south or north? Doesn't the wind ever blow east or west? Solomon is making general statements of perception, mostly from a very fatalistic mindset. Ecc. 1:3-11 are simply making one basic point - nothing changes. Everything stays the same. To force this passage to mean that the earth will never end would be a mistake. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, Yes it helps. Your answers is very similar to what our brothers explain in our local telivision, he also said that solomon really want to emphasize that the generations will come and goes, but the earth remain "for ever" or at least remain lasts over the generations. I am very thankful to received comment such as what you gave, I am more confident that I can give the same explaination on this verse if someone ask me or trying to attack the Bible using that verses. Knowing that I get the same explainations coming from different people and even from different country. In fairness to JWitnessess, that very verse are one of thier main reason not to believe that this earth that we have now will going to pass. See you in the forum! God bless Johnny |
