1 | HOW CAN ONE LIVE WITH A QUARRELSOME WIFE | Proverbs | J ANTWI - BEDIAKO | 9865
I WILL LIKE TO HAVE AN EXPLANATION ON THE SCRIPTURE IN PROVERBS WHICH SAYS THAT IT IS BETTER TO STAY IN THE CORNER OF THE ROOF OF YOUR HOUSE THAN TO LIVE WITH A QUARRELSOME WIFE.

If a man is thoughtful, kind, considerate, and really "knows" his wife, she is less likely to be quarrelsome. One wonders how this verse would have been written had a woman written the book of Proverbs. (No, I'm not quibbling that it was inspired by God, but scripture needs to be balanced and this one is used quite a bit to put women down when they have legitimate complaints about their husbands.)

GrannyBrat, your turn of phrase, "Scripture needs to be balanced," evokes some curiosity. May one rightly infer that your view is that Scripture somehow isn't quite balanced? Would you care to comment further on the subject? --Hank
4 | HOW CAN ONE LIVE WITH A QUARRELSOME WIFE | Proverbs | GrannyBrat | 27343
I'm so sorry. I should have said it differently. It's not the scripture that is imbalanced. Scripture should be balanced with other scriptures. That's what I meant. It's hard when one uses the medium of the written word. What I mean using certain words could be construed as meaning something else because we are not interacting face to face. I'm sorry if I made my statement in such a way as to be obscure. A querrelsome woman would not be soothed if she had this verse quoted to her, but might find it palatable were the verse balanced out with verses about mutual submission or the man's duty to lay down his life for his wife. |

With a name like GrannyBrat, there is simply no way you could have meant anything sinister, or disrespectful of Scripture, in your post :-) Please don't feel abashed by a post that may have contained merely a slightly obsure line or two. It's still worth at least a B plus. Posts appear on the forum from time to time that contain 40 lines and 41 of them are murky! Good to have you with us and God richly bless you. Merry Christmas. --Hank
