The story is found in 1 Kings 22. Micaiah is the prophet. Ahab is the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat is king of Judah. God sat on His throne "wondering" who would lure Israel's king Ahab into battle, so he could be killed. A spirit came forward and told God that he would do it. The Lord asked "How?" And the spirit said "I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all the prophets." God said, "You will succeed, go and do it." Ahab's 400 prophets told him that he would succeed in going to war. Jehoshephat asked it there was "any of the Lord's prophets to ask." Ahab admitted there was one but the king hated that one because "he never propheses anything good about me, but always bad." The king finally was told he would be killed, but he figured he could disquise himself. By "chance" (yeah right) a "enemy" drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the sections of his armour. God IS good. T'oma |
