1 | Did Job have a second wife? | Job | Hank | 73430
Thomass, indeed the items of Job's restoration COULD have included a number of things, including a Rolls-Royce automobile, since it was God who did the restoring! But why assume anything beyond what the text clearly gives us? Why speculate? What is the point and what is to be gained in going beyond the plain text of Scripture? Is it not wiser to accept Scripture for what it says and to reject the urge either to extract it of its essential constituents or embroider it with our own presumptions? --Hank
2 | Did Job have a second wife? | Job | Thomass | 73496
I'm sorry Hank, but did you not pose the question of whether Job had a second wife? If you will read my first posting, I did say that the Bible does not state whether he had a second wife or not. I did maintain that he had more children, so a wife had to be involved somewhere along the lines. It seems as though you are trying to pick a fight where there is none. I've spent a year studying the Book of Job and this question was brought up and every student had their opinion on if it was his wife or another woman. But that's all it was; an opinion. I do accept the scripture as given to me for Proverbs 30:5-6, says: "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. DO NOT add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar." Besides I'm pretty sure that the Bible said that they had camels and donkeys for transportation, not Rolls-Royce.

Let us all be careful not to suggest things that are simply not in the Bible. This forum is read by people that have various levels of Biblical understanding. In some cases just expressing an opinion can become the adding or subtracting of words and ideas to their Bible. I know you all understand this can become very dangerous. EdB |

4 | Did Job have a second wife? | Job | Thomass | 73501
I agree, but the only way to combat ignorance is to read the Bible for yourself. And the point is that is not really important whether Job had a second wife or not, that's not the point that God is trying make.God in His sovereignty can give; or hold back; blessings in accord with His purposes. Who are we to try and understnad His ways? I just want to live according to His purpose, as his servant!
