Just a quick question (and probably easy one for most of you) about this verse. It seems Solomon's kingdom did not last forever? Can someone explain this to me? Thank you! God bless! Ryan Crossland |

Greetings Ryan! Parts of this prophecy refer to Solomon, but parts of it look forward to Christ. In Christ, David's throne has been established forever, even though the earthly throne has long since passed away. For instance, compare this passage with Luke 1:32. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, thanks for the reply...Which refers to Solomon and which to Christ? The "his" in the verse is not with a capital "H" does that matter? Or are you saying the "his" is referring to David? I am sorry if i sound dumb on this, i am just trying to fully understand it.
4 | Just a quick question (and probably easy | 2 Sam 7:13 | Morant61 | 103978
Greetings Ryan! I always say that the only dumb question is the one that goes unasked! :-) I think that the 'he's' are blended. Solomon is the primary reference in 2 Sam. 7:13, but since he didn't live forever, the eternal throne could not refer to him personally. Though, God did allow him to reign for his entire life. The 'eternal throne' can't refer to Solomon's children, since the earthly throne ceased when the nation was taken into captivity. However, since Jesus is one of David's descendent and since He is eternal, the promise finds it's fullest fulfillment in Christ. His (Christ's) throne will never end. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
