1 | Did God break His own law for David? | Exodus | orangejay47 | 227461
Lev 17:11 'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.' Psa 51:16 For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. 2 Samuel 12:13 Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has [fn]taken away your sin; you shall not die. I understand that Psalm 51 indicates that David had a foreshadowing of the Cross, but at the time of David's grave sins Christ had not yet come and the sacrificial law was strictly adhered to. So, did God really forgive his sins without the mandatory blood sacrifice? Did God break His own law for David? |

2 | Did God break His own law for David? | Exodus | biblicalman | 227462
adultery and murder were capital crimes punishable by death. no sacrifice or offering was available for such sins. God exercised His prerogative of mercy. 'i will have mercy on whom i will have mercy'. He did not thereby break the Law. He was above the Law. The Law was man's covenant with GOD. It was not binding on God.
3 | Did God break His own law for David? | Exodus | PaulusSecundus | 227476
"Let God be found true though every human being is false and a liar, as it is written, That You may be justified and shown to be upright in what You say, and prevail when You are judged [by sinful men]. [Psalm 51:4.]." "God put [Jesus] forward [before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received] through faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over and ignored former sins without punishment [including David's sins]. "It was to demonstrate and prove at the present time (in the now season) that He Himself is righteous and that He justifies and accepts as righteous him who has [true] faith in Jesus." (Romans 3:4, 25, 26) David said: "Against You, You only, I have sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge. Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise." God will not "despise" a repentant heart. Also, God took into account his covenants with David. (2 Samuel 7:12; Isaiah 55:3) |
