1 | Biblical basis for pro-life initiatives? | Genesis | arundel | 220751
What Scriptures back up the political and outreach aversion that most churches have against pro-life initiatives? I recently attended my first "Walk for Life" and was surprised how few Protestants attended. The evangelical pastors who spoke both independently apologized to the 30,000 Catholics who showed up about the lack of involvement from Protestant communities in the pro-life movement. Shaken by this, I reached out to some local, regional, and national pro-life leaders who confirmed that this is a nationwide struggle. At the few pro-life initiatives I've attended I've seen the same demographics. I'm looking to understand the theological and biblical basis for the lack of involvement. I thought this was a unifying issue between Catholics and Protestants. I appreciate your help. |

2 | Biblical basis for pro-life initiatives? | Genesis | azurelaw | 220752
Dear arundel, I think the creation account in the Book of Genesis is theological and biblical for prolife issue. By the way, didn't Jesus say : I am the way, and the truth, and the LIFE...? (John 14:6). All things are created by Him, through Him and for Him (Col 1:16). You may find the link str.org helpful concerning prolife issue. Shalom Azure |

3 | Can you be pro-life but not do anything? | Genesis | arundel | 220756
Thanks Azure. But my question is more about the biblical basis for the *inaction* by the broad majority of the Protestant community of the faithful. I can see why many Protestant communities are "pro-life" in mindset, but cannot find the biblical basis to support the inaction that earns Protestants a nationwide reputation as indifferent when it comes to doing something about it. I understand there are tremendous theological differences between Catholics and Protestants, but what is the biblical basis for believing in the pro-life cause but not doing anything about it? It seems to me that the Catholic Church believes in the pro-life cause and vigorously fights for the rights of the unborn, while the many in the Protestant community of the faithful claim to be pro-life but do little to help. I'm surprised by this disparity and would like to understand what theologically and biblically separates us when it comes to take our faith into action. Are there verses to support belief in helping the "least of these" without doing something about it? (again, this sounds terrible to even write, but all the pro-life leaders (local, regional, and national) I've spoken with have confirmed this disparity -- from local managers of crisis pregnancy centers to political advocacy groups to protestant-led groups like 40 Days for Life) |

4 | Can you be pro-life but not do anything? | Genesis | Val | 220760
In this area it was the Catholic leaders who gave their votes to a pro abortion president. They were hurt financially by the scandal of priests who were committing criminal charges against children. They hoped to bring in the immigrants to raise their financial support. Although both people running for president were pro choice, one leaned far left while the other was more center. It is the laws that lead to more abortions. To say Protestants do not do anything is simply inaccurate
