1 | What Cities are Refered to in Jer. 4:26? | Genesis | DocSpock | 8371 | ||
This Bible study forum is certainly the product of many hours of thought and hard work, and has great potential. However, I feel compelled to voice my concerns regarding what I have seen so far. I have only just registered, and already have been exposed to numerous posts (with no scriptural references) denouncing well-known teachers - namely Benny Hinn. If you will refer to the thred on Jer 4:26, you will see, as an example, how various nodes leave the scripture almost entirely and begin a discussion and attack on Benny Hinn's credibility as a teacher, a minister - even accusing him of constant lying. It is ever so sad that people will use a forum in this reprehensible fashion, and the Bible warns us numerous times against judging and attacking our brothers. (Mat 7:1,2 ; Luke 6:37 ; Romans 14:4,10 ; I Cor 4:5 ; James 4:11,12) It is one thing to consider a teaching (and at the most referencing the author or originator) and present a scriptural response for why we may believe it to be in error, it is another thing altogether when we start pointing judgemental fingers and naming names. Even if some believe this behaviour exhibited by many online forums, such as websites and chatrooms, to be Christian and righteous, such material is inappropriate for this forum. Surely it is designed for comments and notes on scriptures and Bible topics, and when a node on Jer 4:23 descends into a list of why an individual believes Benny Hinn, or any other preacher, to be a false prophet, somewhere down the line people have lost their way! This is not intended as a harsh attack on the forum, its esteemed creators, or its enthusiastic contributors, but an attempt to bring into the light a problem which needs to be addressed, whilst this forum is still in its infancy. I submit this post with respect to all parties. Thank you for your time and attention. God bless. |

Friends, I thank you for your responses to my recent post. However, my position remains the same. I still read the above URL as "...studybible...", not "...studyfalseteacher...". There are many available forums where people may post their nominations for the "false prophet" awards. (Excuse my foolishness, but a little humour helps when writing on a subject which I find rather depressing.) As to my position on the individual, you will note if you study my posts that I have not actually stated any personal views regarding himself or his teaching. My thoughts here are attached to principles, not people. I would feel the same way for others besides him. It is with great reluctance that I submit my last post to this forum. This is not as a direct consequence to any of the polite responses to my recent post - I had the inward witness a couple of days back, and received confirmation today. [Please don't suppose I am suggesting folks should cease contributing to this forum.] I should very much like to continue posting here on various topics, since there is potential for some good discussion, where we can steer clear of individuals, but no longer feel at ease in doing so. Thank you EdB, Hank, Nolan Keck, Morant61, Mark Sutton, and any others, for polite response to posts I have contributed to this forum. God bless folks. :-) |

OK DocSpock, I'll try to avoid celebrity issues, but I can't promise to behave myself politely. Maybe it's the chafe of this camel hair shirt I've been wearing which distracts me from the rules of polite behavior. mrk |
