1 | Cain and Seth's wives descended from who | Genesis | Sctt | 45374
Hi 2ndSamuel22 first let me say welcome and you do bring up a valid point ,I believe your reference comes from Gen.20:12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. At first glance this could very well mean his half sister, but as to that view I will give some objections. First the term father can mean grandfather so Sarai could be the daughter of Terahs brother thus making her Abraham’s cousin. This can be seen in Gen.28:13 were God says to Jacob And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac... here God says that Jacob’s father is Abraham but we know that Jacob’s father was actually Isaac. The word daughter can also mean granddaughter as seen in Gen.36:2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite. These daughters were actually Canaans granddaughters. Now lets look more closely at who Sarai is in Gen.11:31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. Terah who is Abraham’s father does not call Sarai his daughter but his daughter-in-law. To me this would indicate that she was not a direct descendent of Terah.Sarai my have even been the daughter of Haran who died in Ur of the Chaldees Gen11:28 which would make her Lots brother. Lot was also called Abraham’s brother Gen.14:14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. Here Lot is called his brother but we know that Lot was actually his nephew. Also if Haran was Sarai’s father Terah would have adopted Sarai into his family making Sarai his daughter. I know this may sound confusing but the meanings of father, mother ,sister and daughter have a very wide application in scripture. So to say Sarai was Abraham’s sister may not be as accurate as on first glance. All scripture from KJV. In Christ Scott |

2 | Cain and Seth's wives descended from who | Genesis | Radioman | 45382
Sctt: You sure go through a lot of mental gymnastics and acrobatics to twist the scriptures to fit your notion of "the way things oughta be." Heard on Christian radio: "Look for people who always seem stuck on one over-emphasized point of theology. This is the person who bangs the proverbial drum for his own little area. Some crazy quirk. And it usually is not some great divine insight. They'd like you to think they're so close to God that they have a great divine insight that no one else has. The fact of the matter is they're seeking a platform for the feeding of their ego. Watch for people with a lack of balance." TEV) (2) A fool does not care whether he understands a thing or not; all he wants to do is show how smart he is. (15) Intelligent people are always eager and ready to learn. (ESV) (2) A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. ... (15) An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. (NLT) (2) Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions. |

Jude 9-10 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. 10But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Dear sctt....I have been following this thread with some interest. Please try to avoid "dueling scriptures" since no one is rebuking you anyhow. You deny that Adam and Eve were the first humans and that from them came all mankind. There also was a time when God instructed men to eat no pork and Peter had a heck of a time after/at his vision. Did God not change His "rules"? Do not put God in a box. Before Leviticus there was no such "sin" as incest. The Bible, OT to NT, is replete with the things God changed. Shall we offer animals as a sacrifice or did Jesus make animal sacrifice obsolete? A new covenant means new. HEB 7:18 The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless 19 (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God." What you call incest (and a sin) was introduced just as other things were set aside. God Bless....Jensen |

Hi Jensen I do not beleive God changed His laws but that the laws were fulfilled in Christ. The animal sacrifices point to Jesus as the last sacrifice but He sill had to be sacrificed to fulfill the laws of God. Peters vision was not about God telling him he could eat thing unclean but to teach him to preach the gospel to the gentiles. Because of the law we know when we sin ,because of Jesus Christs sacrifice we have a covering for our sin. So the knowledge of sin(law) is still there but when we cry out to God for the covering blood of Jesus Christ in repentance for our sin we know that it is there also.In Christ Scott

Dear Sctt....Thanks for your quick reply. You avoid the central issue by setting up a straw man that you knock down with ease. But here is the nut of my note.... "You (scott)deny that Adam and Eve were the first humans and that from them (and them alone)came all mankind." Just simply declare that you do not believe that the Bible is true in all that it says. That way Forum members can discuss the issues that you raise. You can not have it both ways as many Christian liberals would like. Either the Bible is true OR it is not. Since the Bible is plain in teaching the Origins of Humankind, you can beg to disagree. But please stop dancing - defend your beliefs with Scripture or turn about. Think about it. The only defense of your beliefs is secular. And those arguments fall each day as science uncovers and supports His intelligent design. God Bless....Jensen |

Hi Jensen I do believe that the bible is true, not only that but Jesus Christ is my Lord and saviour. Everything I have written is backed up with scripture, if you check any of my post you will see this to be true.Check my personal file and read what I have written. You my not agree with what is written but it is the way I see things and you have the right to challenge my interpitaion of the scriptures,I also have the same right if I do not beleive the same as you.If you would like to discuss anything I have written with me so that I can explain myself further I would be more then happy to discuss them with you. In Christ Scott P.S. On a personal note I truly do believe the bible is the word of God. I Just have a differant view of the creation account then most. I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God, that He died for us that we might live for Him. God knows my heart and He also knows that as much as is within me that I would not teach anything that I thought was wrong or would lead someone astray. May God though His Holy Spirit give us all wisdom ,revelation in the knowlegde of Him.amen |
