1 | Why God tolerated Abraham and Isaac? | Genesis | jlpangilinan | 29314
Genesis 20:1-12 If abraham is truly a man of God why he afraid for his life? He is coward? a liar (although we know that sarah is his half sister) but he dont tell the whole truth to Abimelech. If we analyze these verses and what happened when Abraham offer Isaac to God it seems that abraham is ready to kill his son but he afraid if his life is the one involve? Why God tolerated this kind of actions of Abraham? If we read of what happen to Rebecca and Isaac (Gen 26:1-22)the same thing that he lie to Abimelech for he afraid that people might kill them because rebecca is beautiful. Are they family of a coward and liar? what kind of Man of God these persons was? God bless, Johnny |

4 | Why God tolerated Abraham and Isaac? | Genesis | kalos | 29442
Johnny: Basically, a man of God such as Abraham had that kind of personality because he was a man. And God tolerated that action because He is God. With the single exception of Jesus Himself, the men of God in the Bible were not absolutely sinless. In the Bible there are many examples of believers (OT and NT) who reached perfection (better translated as "maturity") only after many years of living. They failed and trespassed against God at various times in their lives. Even we, as believers today, love God and hate sin. It isn't that we never trespass, but loving God more and more and hating sin more and more remains the general direction of our lives -- that is, if we are truly born again. Moreover, it is impossible to disappoint someone who has known everything about you since before you were ever born. Why did God tolerate it when Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, and Peter (to name but a few) missed the mark? Because God is a God of mercy and forgiveness. Always good to read your postings, Johnny, and to communicate with you. God bless you, my brother. Grace and peace to you, kalos |
