|Locusts are known for harming plant life, not humans, this is pointed out to us by, words of accommodation, the command, do not harm the (CHORTOS) i.e. vegetation to show that these are a special kind of locusts that afflict only those that don't have the seal of God on their foreheads. These are not your average run of the mill locusts.|

|966||Where in the Bible do they get the word||2 Thessalonians||CDBJ||18620|
|The word rapture came down to us from a translation called the Vulgate. It is not a word that is in our English translations. The concept of the rapture is discussed in many different words; we just grouped all of them together and coined the word rapture, as a catchall word to cover them all. The closest that the word rapture comes to in the Greek language of the New Testament, is the word EPISUNAGOGE, it is a compound word EPI, meaning out and SUNAGOGE, a gathering, as an assemble. The word synagogue as used by the Jews is actually a derivative from the later, as a gathering of people. Paul expresses this in II Thessalonians 2:1 where he says: Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
|967||RAPTURE! FACT OR FICTION||1 Cor 15:51||CDBJ||18519|
|Anyone who says that the rapture, as we call it, will not happen is not a realistic. The law of probability is so far against them that they are not even in the same ballpark. The fulfillment of prophecy would dictate that the chances of the rapture not occurring just as it described in Scripture is about thirty three trillion to one.
The person who claims that it won't happen must be a real gambler, or he just plain doesn't know how to interpret Scripture, which is probably the case.
In understanding the Bible for what it says there are different methods employed; the following are some examples that I found that might help.
The study and use of methods and principles of biblical interpretation.
(A) Face Value
The practice of taking what is read (or heard) at "face value", in its most natural, normal, and customary sense. The objective of this method is to discover what the original author intended in his writing and make current application based on such discovery. Allowance is made for symbolism and figures of speech.
The practice of placing a subjective/spiritual meaning to what is written (or said). This method seeks to apply a meaning that is foreign to the intent of the original author.
(C) Principles of
Five principles in a face value method of studying Biblical literature, especially prophetic are: (1) scripture is to be taken in its most natural, normal and customary sense, allowing for obvious symbolism and figures of speech, (2) proper understanding requires contextual consideration, (3) Scripture is to be harmonized with Scripture that touches on a common subject, (4) contradictions are unacceptable and are to be resolved by studying and harmonizing all applicable passages, and (5) recognize that many prophetic passages in Scripture have near/far implications and applications.
Hermeneutic is the method of interpretation that one uses to study something written or spoken; it is how one understands the Scriptures. To have validity, one's hermeneutic must be consistent and without contradiction and must never be governed by a theological predisposition or school of thought. In other words, if hermeneutic is controlled by theology then the Bible can be twisted to say whatever that theology would have it say.
By employing a face value method of interpretation, the reader of Scripture attempts to discover the normal, natural, customary sense of the text as it was intended by the Author/author (God/human) at the time that it was written.
When a consistent hermeneutic is applied, the meaning of Scripture can be understood. Then, as A.W. Tozer put it, "When you find the truth of Scripture, that truth always stands in judgment of you; you never stand in judgment of it."
|968||Absolutely perfect?||Deut 32:22||CDBJ||18481|
|Lanny, are you saying that you have no sin? Give I JOHN 1:8 a good hard look before you answer this. If your answer is yes, why did God have John pen verse 1:9? You are a new creation in Christ if you trust in Jesus you receive a new nature but the old one is still in existence till the day you die physically. The apostle Paul didn't even have a walk that was sinless, are you saying in effect that you are doing better then the apostle Paul, I am just curious|
|969||Is sex between singles a sin?||1 Corinthians||CDBJ||18466|
|If you want to use the Bible as the text to determine weather or not this sex is right or wrong and you say that the ten commandments doesn't spell it out clear enough for you, try Acts 15: 19-29 it spells it out pretty clear; there are a lot of people who have suffered with this, you are not alone. Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might.|

|Bobbie Faye I would like to share one of the first poems that I wrote that speaks of some of the glory we will have in Jesus our Lord. CDBJ For Believers Only
I John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
John 17:22 And the glory which thou gayest me I have given them, that they may be one, even as we are one: KJV
We will shine as light, oh so bright, bright shinning as the stars,
Because of what our savior did, this glory will be ours.
With magnitude and splendor, from radiant beams so bright,
We will share in Christ great glory, of omnipotent rays of light.
When transformed into His presence, and earthly things have passed,
We will behold Him in His glory, and be like Him at last.
With resplendence all about us, and shadow-less attire,
We will see our God of ages, an all-consuming fire.
Look up look up yea saints then, with an ever-watchful eye.
Our precious Lord will come, in lightning flashing sky.
From clouds we will be gathered, by angels on command.
The next order on their venue, destroy this wicked land
To immortals comes the privilege, with our voices we will sing.
Oh grave, where is thy victory; Oh death, where is thy sting?
|971||New to the Word||Bible general Archive 1||CDBJ||17601|
|The best advice I could give would be to buy a good study Bible and start with the New Testament and read it through several times. I use about four diff. Translations but the one that I think is the best is the New American Standard. Pray before you study and confess any known sin in your life, so that God the Holy Spirit can teach you His truth. The footnotes help but just remember, they are not inspired by God. The best way to understand God's Word is by the rest of His word. I.e. He does not contradict Himself. (Psalm 119:160 a) The sum of Your Word is truth. CDBJ|

|973||Is Paul the 12th apostle, by the Bible?||Matt 19:28||CDBJ||16341|
|Your question is where is Paul called the 12th apostle in the Bible. As to hanging a particular number on him, it doesn't. As far as being an apostle it would appear that he was number one by the results. Rom. 1:1-- I Cor. 1:1-- as in all the books that Paul wrote. For my money, I even think that he wrote Hebrews, but there again it not a black and white issue. I would say that the proof is in the pudding, as it were. I was just putting in my two cents worth. |974||if you trully know God..||Bible general Archive 1||CDBJ||16232|
|Peches, There are some verses in I John that I would like you to read, and as you do keep in mind the tense that it is speaking in, like past, present, and future. You have mentioned that you hope to make your peace with God through Christ some day. Look at what God is telling you in these verses. There are promises in these verses that you can claim personally for your own. It's not because any of us on the forum say it, but because God promises it in His Word, through John. That is what the Gospel stands for (THE GOOD NEWS). The good news is that you can know right here and now that you have Eternal Life. Jesus paid for your admission ticket with His life. It's a gift to you from God. You can't make peace with God, Jesus did that when He died for you. Ask God to show it to you though, because a person can't make you understand it. I.e. flesh and blood can't reveal it to you, but only God the Father. I John 5:10-13 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
I hope you understand this, CDBJ
|975||Will Judas be on one of the thrones?||Matt 19:28||CDBJ||16230|
|Judas did not follow in the regeneration. i.e. He was not born again. Scripture say he went to his place. They drew lots to see who would fill his spot but the Lord, as the Bible shows, chose Paul to fill in his office as one of the 12. Acts 1:15-26 (Mark 14:21) doesn't show the future of Judas as being on a throne! I hope this helps. CDBJ|
|976||fallen angels called Nephlims and unicor||Bible general Archive 1||CDBJ||16056|
|The word Nephilim is found in Gen. 6:4, of the NAS, the KJV uses the word giants. It is speculated that a lot of Greek mythology stems from this era. I hope this helps, CDBJ|

|979||Curious of your perspective.||Bible general Archive 1||CDBJ||14451|
|There are no direct answers to your question, only speculation. This is one of those questions like who did Cain take for a wife. We are commanded not to argue over vain genealogies that onyl lead to endless disputes. As for your question though, the most accepted answer to it, with out Biblical proof, is this. Before the flood there had not been mention of any rain. There was no mention of bacteria, or the results of it till after the flood. Noah drank some nice grape juice that he had made. The only problem was it became what we call fermented from the bacteria that was now present all over the World due to the flood. The bacteria must have been isolated till that time. Hence the spread of germs and mans life span goes down. This problem will go away when Jesus set up His Kingdom on Earth during the 1000 year Millenium. As a result mans life span is said to go back up. Praise The Lord again!! CDBJ
