43 Is salvation that difficult? Bible general Archive 1 billk 51177
I'm a realatively new Christian( a year), and as I said, I do believe salavation is easy.... but, lets face it...the Bible sends mixed signals on the subject.

I've enjoy and respect people like Dietrich Bonhoffer and John Macarthur but I think thier views on "cheap grace" miss the mark... decipleship is not the "heart" of the New testament... Grace is.

That's one of the weirdest paradoxes. MY sense is that the closest thing to heaven on earth is thru the Law and obedience (Psalm 119).... but it has little to do with real heaven and real salvation... it just gives us a taste of it.

But even the taste makes it well worth it.

44 Is salvation that difficult? Bible general Archive 1 billk 51088
Salvation is easy (it's unearned!) but following Christ (Paul's race) is difficult. The Bible doesn't contradict itself, but it has some more than a few paradoxes and opposing tensions.

Your embryo metaphor makes the opposite point of of Jesus's own seed parable.... seeds on rocky soil, shallow roots etc. Growth is needed would seem to be the point. But I'm sure there are umteen verses in Galations and Romans that would easily counter that point.

My yoke is easy?....... Hmmm.
