From your question I would have told you to look at the last chapter of Proverbs but because you said this was BSF homework and all the similar questions recently it is obvious that this is not the correct answer since you are studying Genesis. If you want to look up past answers on this site click on advanced search. Put in the date 01-01-2000. Put in keywords like ABRAHAM JACOB RESPECT WOMEN . You should find different answers like the following ID#s 169855, 170068, 170073, 186389, 236473, 236497. These answers don't agree so what is the correct answer? Context matters. The Scriptures you are studying matter. A feminist seminary professor may want a different answer than a conservative bible study leader. The type of acceptable response for you would probably need to correspond to BSF's faith statement. Even if you were to find on the web a "correct" answer copying an answer without giving credit might be considered plagiarism and in a school could result in an F on a test, an F for the class or expulsion from school. Based on the BSF International website the classes appear to be free other than a free will offering. Are the classes being used for anything other than an individual's edification? Are children being home schooled or are charter schools using this material? Are adult's getting job's based on taking these classes? What is the motivation for having to get someone to tell you a "correct" answer? Even if we wanted to we don't have all the necessary context because: We don't have your daily questions. We weren't in your discussion groups. We don't have the study notes you got in class. We don't know what was said in the lecture. You should have seen from the TOU that homework questions are not allowed and there is an age requirement to register. Read the passages assigned from your own perspective but also try to view them from that of a man and a woman of that culture and time and write your answer. It may be a trick question with a negative answer or no answer. |

5 | difference between petition and request | Esth 5:7 | you | 236489
I'm sorry about the robotic sounding response to your question. Since your wording matched a previous question exactly it was assumed to be the same even though you did not specify Esther. Please state what verse you are looking at so the meaning of the original language can be checked. If it is Esther then it is interesting that she had to make the petition/request instead of Mordecai.

brrrilliantsteve: An adversary is not by definition in rebellion. Look at Numbers 22:22 where the angel of the LORD is an adversary (LeShaTaN) to Balaam. |

17 | Three Days and Three Nights | Bible general Archive 4 | you | 235995
In the Apocrypha the use of nights and days does not fit the canonical Bibles pattern. Two are in The Prayer of Azariah and one in Tobit. The Dead Sea scroll examples match our Bible's pattern. 4Q422 has a flood reference in a Genesis paraphrase. 4Q252-4 references Gen 7:12. 4Q216 Jubilees references Deut 9:11.
18 | Three Days and Three Nights | Bible general Archive 4 | you | 235993
There are only two occurences in the Bible that nights doesnt occur with days. Days always occurs before nights. The form is x days and x nights. You never have x days and y nights where x is not equal to y. In Deut 9 of the NASB you have x days and nights instead of x days and x nights. Check the BHS critical apparatus and the Qere to see if there is a justification for the discrepancy. X only has the value of 40, 3, or 7. You can put days and nights in the search to side to find the occurences. See if there is any reason to think this is more than an idiom.
