1 | Holy Spirit operatin our churches today? | Acts | walter777 | 198308
Hello Brad, First of all let me say, What a good translation NASB.. I couldn't agree more when you say, "It is debatable whether the Holy Spirit is "operation today (exactly)in all the ways in which He was in the book of Acts". That is a metter of opinion. Remember our God never changes He is the same yesterday today and forever. As you know the Bible says, We Know in part 1 Cor 13:12 I think the most important thing is we share the love of God with each other and a world that has no life (peace, joy, happiness etc.). Based on 1 Corinthians 12 we should be using the tools that we have been given to lift each other up whenever possible and yes the Bible should be quoted by using such gifts as ex. prophecy to the edification of the Church by all its members that have that gift. This would allow the members to become active within the body. I think because the church leadership overall has elected not to use these gifts it has caused the body of Christ to become life less and with no power(looks like the world) as the Holy Spirit is used as an assurance for salvation only and that's it. Satan is happy with the way things are going overall he has sown much heartache but then he wants to steal kill and destroy(take away the authority that is God given) It is my hope and prayer that the Church overall can become more of an example to a lost world. God is not willing that any should perish. Thanks, Your brother in Christ |

2 | Holy Spirit operatin our churches today? | Acts | walter777 | 198303
Hello, I will add to my comments from earlier to help clarify. First of all let me say that God is Lord and He can do whenever or whatever at any time. I think His word in many places shows us that He uses the Holy Spirit to perform what He wants and yes it takes our belief that He want's us to be well and in good health and uses his children to accomplish those things close to His heart when we act in faith. Additional information provided with scriptures. Thanks for your reply Walter On the night before Jesus’ crucifixion, He made one of the most astounding statements of His whole ministry. John 16:7 records these words: “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” Grasp what Jesus is saying! Jesus said it is more beneficial for us to have the ministry of the Holy Spirit than it was to have Jesus present with us in His physical body! Most Christians are totally shocked by this. They would give anything to have Jesus present in His physical body. How could anything be better than to physically see, hear, and touch Him? Jesus knew His disciples would be shocked by His statement, so He prefaced it with the words, “I tell you the truth.” As hard as it may be to understand, the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is better than the earthly ministry of Jesus. This is not to take anything away from His ministry on this earth. Without Jesus coming to the earth and accomplishing what He did, there could be no ministry of the Holy Spirit. The whole plan of God hinges on the redemptive work of Christ. But, once His work was done, it was actually to our advantage to have Jesus return to His Father and send the Holy Spirit to take His place. Therefore, we shouldn’t lessen the preeminence of Jesus, but we should increase the importance of the Holy Spirit’s ministry. Most Christians don’t realize how involved the Holy Spirit is in everything that the Lord does. They do not ascribe nearly enough importance to the Holy Spirit and what He is doing in the earth today. In Genesis 1:1-2, the Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” In the beginning, God created all the elements needed for His creation. Then, everything else was formed from what had already been created. All the essential ingredients were in place. But nothing happened without the Spirit of God. Notice specifically that the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) moved upon the face of the waters. The English word moved was translated from the Hebrew word “rachaph.” It literally means “to brood.” This is describing the manner of a hen sitting on her eggs to hatch them. The Holy Spirit was brooding over the creation of God just waiting to bring forth whatever God the Father said. When the Lord said “Let there be light” (Gen. 1:3), then the power of the Holy Spirit brought that light into being. Likewise, with everything the Lord created and made, it was the power of the Holy Spirit that brought it all into existence. God the Father conceived it. Jesus spoke it. And the Holy Spirit was the power that performed it. Everything God did in His creation was accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit. When God the Father was ready to bring Jesus into the earth, He took the spoken Word (Jesus), the Holy Spirit brooded over Mary (a virgin), and she conceived Jesus’ physical body. This perfectly illustrates the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are one. In fact, they are so much one that they can’t operate independent of each other. They are a team. Jesus didn’t do any miracles or start His public ministry until after He had been anointed with the Holy Spirit. If Jesus couldn’t, or wouldn’t, operate independently of the Holy Spirit, neither should we. No one can have an effective life or ministry without the power of God’s Holy Spirit working in him or her. This fact can’t be argued by anyone who truly believes the Bible is God’s Word. The Scriptures are replete with proof that it is “not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts” (Zech. 4:6). |

The idea that the gifts ceased after the Bible was given doesn't make sense. " When that is perfect is come..." is talking about when we get our glorified bodies and we see Jesus face to face. The early church had the Old Testament scriptures , when knowlege ceases then I will agree that the gifts are gone.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is in operation today in all the ways in which He was in the book of Acts. There is alot of folks that want to say that all the manifastations are ceased. God is going to use each of us as long as our faith allows Him too and our traditions and man's doctrines don't make the word of God void in our lives. I have personally seen people healed by the Holy Spirit using myself as a channel.I am able to work in several gifts as I allow God to work through me. We have to believe by faith that it can be done first of all. (To the nay sayer's) It's easy to say that you are saved but performing the actions described in Mark 16 is where the rubber meets the road. I affirm through my own testimony that the gifts are working today. God is flowing all the time we christians are the one's that aren't open to Him. He want's to heal but He is a Spirit and must use us through our born again spirit to touch other lives. Visit www.andrewwommack.org for some excellent teachings on the gifts.
5 | What does Eph 1:2-4 mean to you? | Bible general Archive 4 | walter777 | 198089
There are atleast three wonderful truths that I read from these verses. When the verse starts out by saying Grace and Peace, I believe that when we recieve God's kind of Grace into our lives then we can have Peace with Him. Secondly it is because what Jesus Christ did for us we can share in all that He is , that is in the blessings that come through knowing Him, Thirdly it is a wonderful thing to know that God chose us ( elected us before he even created the world) we are His and through Christ's sacrifice we are holy and blameless in his sight. Wow now that's an awesome truth. God Bless. For more discussion on this topic or other questions please email me at waltervaughan@msn.com
