1 | destruction of earth | Gen 8:21 | templescroll | 219899
this is a great answer, really good. so, destruction of the earth by melt down probable but definitely not by flood, excellent. I was worried for a moment there...I'm not a strong swimmer.

3 | destruction of earth | Gen 8:21 | templescroll | 219897
okay, thanks John...but the newspapers / news make a good case for the "inevitable", even if it isn't biblical. I am trying to make a clear case for the NON-destruction of the earth to my son who brought up a good point..."if the world DID get destroyed by so much that is going on in the world now, would that prove that God does NOT exist or at least that he is a liar or impotent?" I told him that God promised Noah He would not destroy the inhabitants of the World AGAIN. But he kept on insisting on the "What If" scenario. He has been reading a lot in school and in the news. He is 15 and won't be comforted by mere dogma. Any ideas?
4 | destruction of earth | Gen 8:21 | templescroll | 219895
this is helpful, but still...if everything is destroyed is this verse not a contradiction to Gen. 8:21 when He promises to never do it again?
5 | destruction of earth | Gen 8:21 | templescroll | 219894
I don't doubt God's existence or (impotence)omnipotence. But with global changes and threats of war, if all things were destroyed by nuclear / biochemical(hypothetically)...would that not make the bible falible...so I have to say to my son, (who asks me) "No, the world would not end, because if it DID that would make God either impotent or a liar and the bible in error." So, regardless if its CO2, sun spots, or farting cows...God will: "never again destroy every living thing, as I have done. While the earth remains" Gen. 8:21-22: Right? Can I say this to my son legitimately? Or do you have a better response to his query?
6 | Star of Bethleham | Not Specified | templescroll | 219836
Many children were killed by Herod in his search for "the King of the Jews (Jesus). I was told by a certain religion that the Star of Bethleham was a tool of Satan, as were the 3 kings, to lead Herod's soldiers to the location of the baby Jesus to destroy Him. Are these true?

Hi, Gen 8: I read that God would never "destroy" the Earth's inhabitants again as long as the Earth "endures". Would an inevitable destruction of the earth and its inhabitants by nuclear war or global melt down prove the non-existence of God or His impotence? |
