The Atonement of Christ is difficult for many to understand. We often speak of the cross; yet, thousands died on the cross. It was the Roman's way of executing criminals. So; what was special about Jesus' death on the cross? As the Son of God, Christ did not have to experience pain, suffering, or even death. It was completely voluntary! We too often associate the immense physical pain of Christ's passion with the Atonement for our sins. I feel that it was the unimaginable act of taking on the sins of every single human who ever lived and who ever will live in one moment which was the ultimate agony. Could one even imagine the spiritual and emotional distress of such an act? When Christ was in Gethsemane, he wasn't fearful of death. He was tormented by the fact that he was about to take on this awful burden. That is what Christ gave up.. completely on his own accord! If Jesus had decided not to die, we would have no chance at redemption. |

God built us with internal sexual desires; yet, He also has provided us with ways to fulfill those desires outside of sin. The Bible plainly states that sexual desires should be fulfilled only through lawful marriage between a man and a woman. The fact of the matter is; masturbation is a result of uncontrolled sexual desires and thus is a sin. It also often leads to other carnal sins. Read what Paul writes throughout his letters to the ancient church. The spirit of his messages are self-control and obedience. Finally; it is important to note that we all sin and cannot work our way into heaven. None are perfect; but we should always strive for perfection. |
