1 | can I eat shellfish? | Bible general Archive 3 | soulbloom | 166095
Also in Acts 15 the Jersualem church established the rules that gentile beleivers should follow, "Therefore, in my judgment, we should not cause difficulties for those who turn to God from among the Gentiles, 20 but instead we should write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from eating anything that has been strangled, and from blood." There is atad hint of the food laws, but even these have to be interpreted in context. Shellfish are not prohibited in these though.

3 | "word" or "Word" | Bible general Archive 3 | soulbloom | 166068
right, but you can't take it out of context. You are asking about 'word' in v 23. And in v 25 Peter tells what 'word' he is talking about, which has a definitive role in answering your question. hope that helps. In Christ's love, jeremy http://www.cor13.com |

4 | "word" or "Word" | Bible general Archive 3 | soulbloom | 166017
Peter states in verse 25 that the word he is referring to is the gospel, not specifically the person Jesus Christ. Whether you capitalize or not makes little difference in the meaning. So, both translations are fine... 'word' referring to 'gospel' is worth capitalizing too, but it is not referring to a person. hope that helps in Christ's love, jeremy laduke http://www.cor13.com |

5 | Wifes dutie to her husband | Bible general Archive 3 | soulbloom | 165991
I would agree with some of what Brenda L said, but really it comes down to the same duties a man has to his wife... to submit. We often see Ephesians 5:22-33 and miss Ephesians 5:21 - Submit to one another! The references to Titus are not the only functions of a wife nor do they imply that the husband should not do the same. Also, the reference to 1 Thess 2:7 is way out of context - it is talkking about Paul caring for his churches. hope that helps In Christ's love, jeremy laduke http://www.cor13.com/blog |

6 | intoxications | 1 Tim 5:23 | soulbloom | 165990
well.. drunkeness in any form is ungodly. If you are looking for a verse that says, "thou shall not drink coors" then you are going to be looking for a while. However the idea is there in Ephesians and other places that prohibit drunkeness in the Christian life, and it seems to be common sense to apply that to any type of drunkeness outside of medicinal reasons. There is nothing special about wine - weed just probably wasn't very popular back then?? hope that helps In Christ's Love, jeremy laduke http://www.cor13.com/blog |

7 | God and Man at the same time! (?) | 1 Tim 2:5 | soulbloom | 165989
To best understand the nature of Jesus' prayer we need to understand the nature of the Trinity and the nature of Jesus' incarnation. The Trinity is made up of Father, Son, and Spirit. The point relevant to this topic is that they do communicate. The thing we need to understand about the incarnation is that Jesus became fully human and set aside his rights as God (omniscience, omnipotence, etc) and even He had to live out trust in the Father, thus his prayer. hope that helps. 8 | can I eat shellfish? | Bible general Archive 3 | soulbloom | 165988
The shellfish passage is in the OT (?not sure where?), in the NT God tells Peter that 'what he has made clean we shouldn't call unclean' Acts 10. Jesus also said that it is not what enters a person's mouth that defiles them, but what comes out of it (gossip, envy, etc). So, unless you are eating shellfish in front of someone it might offend, then it is perfectly fine to do so. Hope that helps In Christ's Love, jeremy laduke http://www.cor13.com/blog |

9 | "word" or "Word" | Bible general Archive 3 | soulbloom | 165986
When speaking of the word of God it is hard to seperate the written, inspired word from the word made flesh. However, words on paper do not give life - that is the job of Christ. Peter goes on to say that this word oc which he speaks is the 'good news that was announced to you' (v25). So, it doesn't really matter whether you capitalize it or not... the original authors wrote the whole book in capitals. What matters is how we understand what the word is. In this case it is the power of Christ's selfless love (the good news). Hope that helps. In Christ's Love, jeremy laduke http://www.cor13.com/blog |
