2 | divorce and re-marriage | Mark 10:12 | slampodunk | 171514
Marriage isn't easy; being a Christian isn't easy either. Divorce is an easy (and poor) solution to working at a marriage, and anyone who's married knows that it is work where the rewards outweigh (not necessarily outnumber) the obstacles. One must remember that if you are married under the Eyes of God, then God is at the center of that marriage. Therefore greater faith is needed in Him during the trials and tribulations that a marriage endures. Matthew 19 tells us Jesus' answer to the Pharisees about the lawfulness of divorce. Matthew 5:31 and 1 Corinthians 7 talk about this as well. I don't believe anyone has the right to tell you to stay single or to marry, but as a Christian I can encourage you about what the Bible has to say about divorce and marriage. Obviously divorce is not a good thing and the Bible states very clearly that we should not divorce. In Matthew 19 you will find Jesus saying, "Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” Jesus also says ,"And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery" So perhaps it also deals with the circumstance of the divorce. Personally I can tell you that my mom remarried after my dad (who I love and forgave) had an affair. After nearly 15 years she happily remarried my wonderful stepfather. Now I have two wonderful families and 5 brothers and sisters. God is truly great. 1 Corinthians 7 says, " 1 Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband." To me, this means that it is better to stay single but if you have these strong feelings for someone (and it's reciprocated) it is better to marry than commit a sexual sin via immorality, adultery, or fornication. I truly pray this helps you out in some fashion. One more thing, marriage is similar to our walk in Christ... it is a race of endurance where patience and love are completely essential to finishing. Vaya con Dios. |

3 | Significance of Mark 14:51? | Mark 14:51 | slampodunk | 171511
Does any one have any thoughts on the significance of this (Mark 14:51)? It's right after the arrest of Jesus at Gethsemane, but out of all four Gospels this (Mark) is the only one that speaks about this young man fleeing naked. I've often wondered (and prayed for revelation) because it strikes me as such a random verse in the midst of such an important event. Thanks.
