Thank you. My goal in life is to understand god. After saying that let me say something about religion. I have always believed that religion should be about peace and self sacrifice, these two things go hand in hand. I started to read about sacred text of many different religions two years ago. Hinduism is vast and confusing. It is highly ritualistic and does not believe in self sacrifice for peace. It calls a man to arm for ridding of evil from this world. Similarly, Islam is also aggressive when it comes to getting rid of evil. Both these religion (though exceptional and beyond me) are violent. When I read about Jesus Christ I could identify with him meaning he embodied my thought of what a true man and a religion should be like. Even though many stories in the old testament are violent, gospel talks about this magnificent man who accepted death even though he had the power to defeat death itself. That to me is the true meaning of life. Now I don't think i have to tell you that our schools and colleges and universities teach more evolution and communism than anything else. So, in some circles when they enquire about my religion i call myself christian because i believe in the gospel. But i haven't been officially converted to Christianity. yes i am very well versed in Islam religion. I have read both the quran and the hadith. I have also seen the actual conversion ceremony. |

Thank you, Firstly i would like to say that you seem to have some knowledge about religions in Nepal. But i would like to tell you that 90 percent Nepalis are Hindus. Others are not large in number but Buddhism is well accepted. Hindu religion is very complex. I think Christianity simplifies it to a great extent. There is not a particular church i attend. Most churches were run by missionaries but now there seem to be many. I cannot figure out there objectives. I cannot associate myself with cheats and thugs. I know a man however, and he talks about the gospel. I meet him regularly and we also pray together. But since you mentioned i will try to find a church and let you know how it goes. Dear Doc, is denomination important for us or should they be important. |

Thank you. I understand gospel is the way we have to live in order for us to be good Christians as well as good people.I believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus the son and the god. I also believe that god is loving and kind and he wants to deliver us from suffering. I am also thankful that he made his sinless son suffer and die to give us a message that we can all abide by his laws. I am faithful that Jesus will comeback and end all the sins our world has invented. I am sorry I was unable to make my question more clear. Here in Nepal we Christians are a very small minority. But none the less we are a growing minority. I think it is the need of the hour that we should be able to identify ourselves as Christians. There are some Churches but they do not have a very good service. So, I have taken it upon myself to educate my fellow countrymen on the tenants of Christianity. I know I am not yet worthy but I think I should try. So, for this particular reason I just wanted to know if there was any ritual i could perform to convert(i do not prefer this word) somebody to Christianity. I know how you convert somebody to Islam. I read a little bit on baptism. Can you shed a little more light on the actual process of Baptism or if there is any other way. I would like to know the process. Humbly, God Bless. |

6 | Women pastors... | 1 Timothy | sankalpa | 228120
1 Timothy 2:12"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." In every church the pastor(new word for teacher) has the authority over the proceedings. In the church both men and women are present. Now, if a woman was to become the pastor it would be against the scripture as she would have authority over both men and women in the church. The closest scripture talks about a woman in the church is in, Romans 16:1-2, that is about a women(Phebe) being a servant in the church and a helper but not anybody in the position of authority. |

7 | curious as to what a woman's role is | 1 Timothy | sankalpa | 228118
yes, i think 1 Timothy 2: 9-15 clearly says women should not teach among other things. But i am sure anybody has the right to spread the good word.
8 | Is eating pork allowed for Christians? | Matt 15:17 | sankalpa | 228116
Most beautiful, most beautiful, what logic , what a logic. God bless , God bless. I was reading and there was mentioning of split hooves and cud chewing so i asked, but the answer provided was too good. Well i think eating has a spiritual side because food gives of life and we have to be responsible while consuming . i think we should think about what and how much. but anyway thank you for the direction. |
