2 | What does Luke 14:26 mean? | Luke 14:26 | sadean | 84491
My understanding of this verse is not that we should "hate" anyone but that our love for God should be so much that He IS our life. He should not have first place in our life--he should be our life. Then, we won't put our father or mother, etc. before Him. I hope that helps.
3 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | sadean | 68960
Tongues is just one of the gifts. You are "baptized" with the Holy Spirit as soon as you become a Christian. Many believe there is anotehr baptism in which you recieve the gift of tongues. But my studying has revealed that the Holy Spirit gives the gifts we have. Not all have the same gifts. So one person might have the gift of teaching, but not tongues. Another may have both. As far as I can tell the categories we place on these gifts (one being better than another) is not placed by God. He uses us the way He sees fit and equips us with what we need to fulfill His purpose for us.
4 | Saturday vs Sunday? which is the sabeth | Acts | sadean | 68845
The Sabbath is a holy day for the Jewish people. They had many holy days but the most obvious one is the weekly Sabbath. However, when Jesus was resurrected, the Christians began meeting together on the First Day of the Week. This was because that was when Jesus was resurrected. If you notice in Acts, the Jewish Christians seemed to worship at the Temple as well as with other Christians. Hope this helps.
