1 | Was everything really created in 7 days | Gen 1:2 | royfish306 | 152490
Everything was really created in six days. The bible says so several times: Gen. 1:1-2:3 Exo. 20:11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy. Exo. 31:17 "... for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed." Heb. 4:4 And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. 4For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: "And on the seventh day God rested from all his work." It breaks down this way: An omniscient God said He created the earth in six days, the same omnipotent God could have; He did. royfish |

2 | People really lived hundreds of years? | Gen 5:27 | royfish306 | 152489
Yes. It is not preposterous to think so for several reasons: 1. God said it was so in His Word. 2. Many ancient societies have legends of a 'golden age' where lifespans reached almost 1000. (Many times these legends are based in some sort of truth, most ancient societies also have flood legends.) 3. There is no physiological reason why humans should necessarily have to die(if nothing goes wrong) and the antediluvian life was greatly different from ours now: - A. They were probably eniterly vegatarian(Gen. 1:29-30, Gen. 9:3). - B. There was most likely some sort of an atmospheric barrior of water(Gen. 1:6-8, Gen. 7:11, 2 Pet. 3:5-6), that probably caused it not to rain(Gen. 2:5-6), and would have protectecd from the harmful rays from the sun, and would most likely have created a warm, oxygen rich environment. - C. They had a significantly more pure gene pool. - - All increadibly conducive to longevity. 4. The existence of 'Neanderthal' type fossil remains. High-tech age progression software used by the FBI when progressed to the near 1000 range creates 'Neanderthal' like men, for several reasons, the brow-bone never stops growing, we begin to slouch, with age on the spine, etc. All of this evidence that goes to say that it is clearly possible, is insignificant compared to the truth that omniscient God said it was so, and an omnipotent God could have made it so. royfish |

3 | SOUL AND SPIRIT | Heb 4:12 | royfish306 | 152414
We know from the new testament that there is at least some sort of a distinction between soul and spirit based on Heb. 4. If they can be divided then they are different. The hebrew and greek words though, that translate to the english words soul and spirit have different connotations. The hebrew word that is translated soul, 'nephesh' refers to the whole immaterial man. See Gen 2:7 spirit, soul, mind, heart, conscience, etc. The New Testament word, 'psyche' (from whence we get english words like psycholgoy) has a much more express meaning, although not all together consistently, of mind. The greek word, 'pneuma' which is translated spirit here in Hebrews has a meaning of the immaterial part of man created expressly in the Image of God, entirely nonphysical, and eternal. royfish |

5 | Nazarites Who How many with references | Num 6:1 | royfish306 | 152249
Acts 21 is the other reference to Nazarites from the new testament. Paul was in association with them, not against them. Also Samuel was probably in a nazarite vow look at 1 Samuel. Royfish |

6 | what does the Bible say about suicide? | Bible general Archive 2 | royfish306 | 146185
I believe that Judges 16 clearly states that Samson commited suicide: 25And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars. 26And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them. 27Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport. 28And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. 29And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. 30And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life. 31Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years. And that Hebrews 11 clearly lists Samson with other Old testament saints going to heaven: 1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. 10For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 13These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16But now they desire a better country, that is, an HEAVENLY: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. 32And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of SAMSON, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 33Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. 34Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a BETTER RESURRECTION: 36And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 37They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 38(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. 39And these all, having obtained a GOOD REPORT THROUGH FAITH, received not the promise: 40God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. They all recieved a good report even Samson. So, if a believer commits suicide they will go to heaven. Romans 8:38-39 (King James Version) 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. But what a sad thing to do. royfish306 |

8 | What is your opinion on this? | 1 Cor 7:19 | royfish306 | 132174
Paul also says in 1 Corinthians 7 17 But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. 18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. 19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. Paul says here that the flesh is nothing. Only doing what we believe we are callled to do. Galations says something very different and very important regarding salvation. Galatians 5 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Here Paul is speaking of the deeds of the Law versus the Law of Grace. If man tries to recieve justification by the deeds of the law(circumsion or anything else for that matter) he will fail. He must recieve justification through grace by faith. ROYFISH |

9 | May the Lord give...May the Lord bless | Ps 28:1 | royfish306 | 131924
These words speak directly at the nature of God. God is surely not a rock or a shepherd or even a kind in our conventional earthly sense of the words. Calling God a 'rock' is to create a direct metaphor, comparing the ways in which God is like a rock. He is strong, stedfast, sure, true, unchaning, unmoving, a rock. Similiarlly calling God a shepherd and a king is to compare those attributes of Him that are similiar to his great being. The unexplainable person of God can be glimpsed upon by the things of the world we may see. God is faithful, loving, merciful,(do a cross reference to every entrance God is called a shepherd to see what such a figure of speech hopes to show, even research how shepherds lived in bible times). Continuing, God rules supreme as King and is our greatest helper and provider. All of that is to say that God is greater then any earthly name can ascribe to Him. They can only help us to see him. Exodus 3 13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 11 | 1. logic? 2. differences with Eng. tr.? | James 1:13 | royfish306 | 131875
I am encouraged by your persistance in reaching biblical truth. I find to this passage of James to reveal a great aspect of God's nature. A testimony to God's perfection. Of His goodness. God will necer tempt you to commit evil. Just as I cannot tempt you into becoming a pink panda bear, no one can tempt God to do evil. Becoming a pink panda is not a power that you have just as God is not able to commit evil. It is contradictory to his nature. I believe that is why this verse is consistently translated this way in the english, because it expresses a great truth. Also, I believe Matthew 4:7 Matthew 4 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. is enough scripture to let us know not to test God. Furthermore, incarnate Jesus had a duality of nature, fully both God and man. As a man Jesus was tempted Hebrews 4 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Because as a man he was able to sin. Answer back if you have any comments reguarding my response |

12 | Greek help in translation anyone? | James 1:13 | royfish306 | 131817
This is the most accurate Greek translation. It is impossible for God to be tempted. The word used in this verse is: á ðåé ñáóôïò apeirastos untried, that is, not temptable: not to be tempted. Webster's online dictionary defines tempt as: 1 : to entice to do wrong by promise of pleasure or gain 2 a obsolete : to make trial of : TEST b : to try presumptuously : PROVOKE c : to risk the dangers of 3 a : to induce to do something b : to cause to be strongly inclined God cannot sin, so He cannot be tempted to sin. TITUS 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; 2 Timothy 2 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. Hebrews 6 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: A question though, why do you think this verse should be translated differently? royfish |

13 | Which people in the Bible never died? | OT general | royfish306 | 131423
I believe Enoch and Elijah never died. Genesis 5 18 And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: 19 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 20 And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. 21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. 2 Kings 2 1 And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. 2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel. 3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace. 4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho. 5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace. 6 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on. 7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan. 8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground. 9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. 10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. 11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. royfish |

14 | Does God plunge mortals into ignorance? | Obad 1:8 | royfish306 | 130539
I believe there is a great differnce between humans before and after the fall. We have the knowledge of good and evil. All humans are not ignorant like the animals in this sense, we know to do good, and not to do evil, and are able to distinguish between the two. It is with a God given understanding(the knowledge of good and evil), not ignorance, that all humans are able to make the choice to follow christ, or to reject him. |

15 | Are mortals altogether ignorant? | Obad 1:7 | royfish306 | 130538
Romans 1 goes further then to say that the Knowledge of God is observable in creation. It is also 'manifiest' in all men, so that they are without excues. Romans 2 goes on to say 14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) Even without a Law they had a conscience in them convitcting them to do good. Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. It is by the desires of the lust of the flesh that humans continue in sin. James 4 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. James isnt talking about any ignorance in sin here. Him who KNOWETH to do good and doeth it not... ROYFISH |

16 | Does God plunge mortals into ignorance? | Obad 1:8 | royfish306 | 130520
Again I find the answer to this question in Romans Chapter 1 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Casting men out of their own wisdom is casting them to the truth. In 1st Corinthians chapter 1 we read: 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; The wisdom of sinful men is a stumbling block unto the true light, may all men be cast into true light. 17 | Are mortals altogether ignorant? | Obad 1:7 | royfish306 | 130519
I think that the first chapter of Romans answers the question of the Ignorance of those Judged. 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, The knowledge of God is manifest in all. It is only by a continuied desire to live in sin that they believe they are ignorant. ROYFISH |
