1 | "father god" | Mark 14:36 | rich9562000 | 188361
I am not disputing that God is the Father... I am asking what is the affect of referring to the God by a name ("father god") not found in scripture? (especially if I am dealing with a controlling spirit that wants to only appear to be invoking His name) The purpose in the commandment "not to use the Lord's name in vain" was to show respect to the name, so as not to abuse the authority and power that it invoked. If so, to call upon a name not referred to in scripture would be the same as never invoking His name and the power and authority that it possesses. In this contexts, prayer to a "father god" is no better than a prayer to Ronald McDonald. What does scripture say about the use of His name especially in prayer.
