1 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116651
I never said the words were "wrong". I just said that the original texts could mean something different. I am not arguing that the Lord is wrong. But in your message you wrote "Do you really believe that God allowed His message to humanity to be so corrupted..." This is not that good of an argument b/c the Lord has allowed many false religions to creep into society (which also rule out Christianity for the top religion). So, you can't say that the Lord wouldn't allow fallible humans to corrupt His words....remember the humans that translate the Bible are just that- fallible.
2 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116650
Also, you haven't proven that the original texts do mention homosexuality... you have to be a scholar in the old languages which the original Bible was written, which I am not. I read it on a study done by a scholar. This is where I am basing my information. It is not my opinion that the verse can't be taken word for word, I was just implying that the original texts use other words and can be taken to mean many different things.
3 | read last statement | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116649
It is not only the word of my relative, it is also medical test which have been done on him, which prove that his bone structure is different than a straight man's.
4 | analogies | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116648
How many adulterers claim that they were born adulterers? Hardly any.
5 | Ultimate Truth | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116563
This was not a "rabbit trail" as you try to describe it. It was merely a point.... you were insinuating that the Bible was the only truth. I was just pointing out that it was not the only truth, just the basis for all truths.
6 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116562
My friend is my relative. I know for a fact that he is telling the truth, because he himself has had medical tests done on himself. There are no studies what-so-ever that show pedophiles or murderers being born that way. That is truly a stretch.
7 | read last statement | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116559
Did you read about my relative in my last statement?
8 | Now vs. Paul's day- lust and Romans | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116558
2,000 years means nothing. Slavery was accepted for over 2,000 years..women had basically no rights for over 2,000 years...blacks had essentially no rights for a while......time doesn't matter. Lust means jealousy, men can be jealous of many things.
9 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116553
The verse that you submitted can't be taken word for word. The word "homosexual" wasn't even made up untill the early 1800's when it became an issue. You have to go back to the original texts to see that this verse does not actually say anything about homosexuality.
10 | There are studies | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116551
Many people die from AIDs from natural relations, too. This is not to say that homosexuals are the cause of AIDs. Yes, after i submitted this note, i did some more research and found that this study (the last on my list) was discredited and never duplicated, but i also found that the study with the three bones has been duplicated several times and hasnt been discredited.
11 | please... | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116550
There are no mentally ill people in the Bible, there are no people with anorexia, and there are no people with schizophrenia. This does not mean that the people do not exist.
12 | not applied to everyone | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116547
I am merely saying that not everyone is meant to be fruitful and multiply. This is the case with homosexuals as well as others who are unable to have a baby for some reason.
13 | Ultimate Truth | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116546
Ok bradK....are you supposing that there is no truth to be found anywhere outside of the Bible? Of course there are truths outside of the Bible, the Bible is the Ultimate Truth, but there are others outside. Such as mathmatical theorms and postulates....they are true. Also, in medical science there are some true things. So, don't say that the Bible is the ONLY truth, b/c its not, it is the ULTIMATE truth, but not the only.
14 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116545
I don't have confidence in either areas, as I have studied them both, but there is so much information it is hard to grasp it all. I know from a close friend (actually a relative) that is gay that he was born homosexual. I tried to find some studies that would prove this and found that there are some, but the scientific field on this subject is limited and no definite answer has surfaced yet. You say you work in a biotech company and that science proves that homosexuals aren't born that way, but you are incorrect becuase no answer has been established, only medical studies (which have points for both sides of the case). I was trying to find that the Bible didn't condemn homosexuality b/c it would be easier to grasp...God created them this way afterall (or so I believe as you may not). |

15 | analogies | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116544
Hank: ok- good analogies with the adulterer, the smoker, the alcoholic, and the kleptomaniac-- but you are forgetting one important thing... these are just four people- gays make up about 15 percent of America....how many kleptomaniacs are there? Not nearly as many. The figure isn't even in the same ballpark. Also, I truly believe in God and His Providence, but i also believe that some (not all, as some do it to rebel and as a shock tactic) homosexuals are born that way-- i will try to find those medical researches again |

16 | What duz that have to do? | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116543
What does that have anything to do with my question?
17 | please... | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116478
So does this mean that the couples ( man and woman) who can't have a baby....should they be ostracized also? This is the same argument...they can't have a baby so they're wrong. Please.
18 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116477
I am confused about this verse and am just thinking of the possiblities. Maybe this verse applied to the straight people of this time as some of the verses in the Bible do not apply to all of the people of that timeperiod. I dont kno.
19 | There are studies | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116476
What is the difference b/t the Natural Law and the Mosaic Law. And yes there are many studies to prove this....some include: In gay people's brains the amygdala (connects the two parts of the brain and is the trigger for emotions and reflexes) is different than that in a straight person's brain. Also, there are only three bones in a person's body that do not grow after birth. These are the hammer, anvil, and the stirrup in your ear. These bones are larger in a homosexual's body than in a straight's body. There is another study that proves that different sections of the brain are different sizes in homosexual's brains than that of a straight person's body. |

20 | Now vs. Paul's day- lust and Romans | Rom 1:27 | ptgard05 | 116475
Please don't belittle my question to obsurdity. I wasn't insinuating that it meant "Picking each other's pockets because they "abandoned the natural function" of picking women's pockets?"... i don't think that it has a sexual meaning. There are numerous other things that it could mean and "one has to be willfully blind not to see that". |
