1 | does Jesus judge or not? | John 5:22 | plinsky | 65974
Hi Hank - No problem! I'm not offended - I'm just trying to reconcile a couple of verses. And now that I think about it, it's sort of a moot point anyway. Humankind certainly will be judged at the last day, and that's the most important thing to remember. God bless you! Plinsky |

2 | does Jesus judge or not? | John 5:22 | plinsky | 65926
Easy, Hank . . . I had always thought that judging was done by God the Father, and our advocate was Jesus Christ. (John 12:47-48). I am trying to "inwardly digest the plain truth of Scripture." That's why when I read something that seems contradictory I ask those of you with more understanding. Thanks for your followups! |

3 | does Jesus judge or not? | John 5:22 | plinsky | 65894
This confuses me - I thought that Jesus did not come to "judge" - any clarifications? Thanks.
4 | OT practices not followed today? | Not Specified | plinsky | 58804
As I have been reading through Deuteronomy, I am struck by some of the laws and commands that seem extreme to us today (i.e., certain dietary restrictions, not allowing anyone "unclean" into the camp, verses such as Deut. 13: 12-16 and Deut. 25:11-12). Can anyone comment on how certain practices have survived to this day and others have not? I know that Jesus came to bring us a new covenant, and that as Christians we are not bound by all the laws of the old covenant. However, certain practices remain - why? And if a Jew doesn't believe in Jesus, why are some the laws of the OT followed, but not others? Sorry if this question has been answered before - I couldn't find it. Thank you! |

6 | looking for good isaiah commentary | Not Specified | plinsky | 54799
Hi everyone! I am new and really enjoying this site and the helpful answers in the postings. Can anyone recommend a good commentary on Isaiah? I frequently find myself frustrated not knowing when specific prophecies were fulfilled (or not knowing which ones are yet to be). I'd like to really dig into the depths of this book, because I know I'm missing a lot right now. Thanks so much for your help! |

8 | touching Jesus' body post-resurrection | Not Specified | plinsky | 54321
Matthew 28:9 says that when Mary saw Jesus resurrected, she "clasped his feet" and worshiped him. Then John 20:17 says that Jesus told Mary not to hold him because he hadn't yet ascended to the Father. Anyone know why the discrepancy? And why would it be important not to touch Jesus until his ascension? And why a few days later did Jesus insist that Thomas touch his hands and side (he still had not ascended)? Thank you! |
