1 | what does God think about marriage | Bible general Archive 1 | p31gm | 11510
See 1 Cor 7:32-34. Paul is saying that to remain unmarried is to be able to be concerned about the things of the Lord, that he may please the Lord. Likewise, the married person is concerned about the things of the world, and how he/she may please the spouse. There are so many worldly distractions associated with pleasing a spouse and living as a couple that a married person can have much difficulty carving out time in the schedule to maintain a healthy relationship with God. As a married person, I find that to be true. However, as a single person, I often struggled with God's plan for my life and did not take full advantage of the years which could have been more fully devoted to Him. A single person has "opportunites" that married people may not. The Bible is clear, however, that the union between man and woman is God-approved. Examples range from Adam and Eve, where Eve was created wholly for the purpose of being with Adam, through countless couples in the Bible. I think it is important to mention the analogy of the bridegroom, Christ, and his bride, the church.
2 | What is a generatonal curse? | Gal 1:9 | p31gm | 11509
I went to the website given above by Steve. I found it to be very informative and relevant to the question. The article Are Christians Cursed gives solid scriptural answers. The main thrust is keeping your focus on God and your relationship with Him, instead of on Satan and family "sins" that you must pray yourself out of. I had previously heard about generational sin from a pastor. I will be asking him for his scripture references.
