1 | Should women wear shorts/pants? | Deut 22:5 | ottersln | 73264
It is my opinion that Jesus Christ is much more concerned with the heart and soul of a person than what they are dressed in on Sunday's and Wednesday's. However, I agree that as a member of the Body of Christ I need to dress with modesty and be respectful of others that may be at church who lack self control. On the same token, no matter what a person has on they are welcome in God's house at all times. We want people to feel welcomed to worship God in our church's. We do not want to focus on the clothing styles of those that come. Once the heart is given to the Lord, conviction by the Holy Spirit will change the smaller things such as appropriate dress. 3 | worms then dead | Acts 12:23 | ottersln | 73041
Heord basically was eaten alive from the inside out by these worms. Truly a horrid death. In that time to be eaten by worms was considered to be one of the most disgraceful ways to die. I think that God was sending a strong message about the consequences of sinful pride. Praise God that He does not always punish people immediately as He did Herod, but all will face judgement. 2 Samuel 24:16,17 is another time with the hand of Lord struck out in punishment.
4 | enoch walking in heaven with god | Gen 5:21 | ottersln | 73040
Yes, Enoch was taken to the Lord, not through a physical death. The references point to a similar experience that is recorded in 2 Kings 2:1,11 when Elijah was taken up with the Lord.
5 | What are the requirements for a deacon? | Eph 2:8 | ottersln | 72987
Reference 1 Timothy 3:8-13 Deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulgent of much wine, not pursuing dishonest gain, keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They should first be tested (not a new Christian). |

6 | Joyfully accepting Jesus but not saved? | Matt 13:20 | ottersln | 72985
When my sister called me and told me that my great-neice had been born I joyfully accepted this news. When I held this wonderful little gift from God in my arms, immediately fell in love with her, I knew her and accepted her for who and what she is. When I heard as a very young child that Jesus was God's only Son and that He loved me I joyfully accepted it was so. When I realized that I was a sinner and that I needed to be forgiven for my sins I believed in my heart that Jesus was the Son of God. His death on the cross and ressurection from the grave was for my sins. I choose to have an ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ by study of His Word, talking to Him through prayer and offering my service and tithes to Him to grow the kingdom of God here on earth. Hope this helps. |

7 | Isn't Baptism neccessary for salvation?? | Rom 10:9 | ottersln | 72983
Baptism is a symbolic act of faith, being clensed by the blood of Jesus Christ. I do not believe that it is necessary to be baptized in order to be saved by the grace of God. I do reccomend it as it is a very special time in a Christians life. Read Luke 23:39-43. The criminal who is speaking in verse 40 was not baptized. He asked Jesus to remember him when he came into His kingdom. The way to salvation is to recognize our sin and that we are in need of forgiveness. Second we must believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the cost for our sin. Thirdly we must ask for His forgiveness. The criminal did all of this and Jesus promised him that he would be in paradise with Him that day. We are saved by faith in Jesus Christ, not by acts of baptism or anything else.
