1 | if sabath means sat(day) why we take sun | Ex 20:11 | oscar2 | 31633
I want to give ARISE the benefit of the doubt, and therefore the credit that he already searched for answers, but he was not satisfied with them. I tried to give a little bit more than we had on those days of discussion and I am happy you agree with the main point. I think it is a great idea to look for answers before asking, even if it is not indicated. It could be that being one of the founders, you some times could get a little bit tired of some body else interventions. But I think we all share the most important thing, the love of Our Love. Your brother on Jesus. Oscar |

2 | Any biblical answers to Mormon beliefs? | 1 John 4:1 | oscar2 | 30990
I have a close family member who is a leader in the Mormon Church. He gave us a lot of material on their beliefs to read. There are a lot of rabbit trails we could disagree about, but I want to get to the heart of what they believe and be able to give biblical examples of the truth. Does anyone have good, sound biblical answers for me? I have been doing a lot of study in this area on my own, but would appreciate any wisdom that I can get. Thanks, Shelley, I went through the same endeavors, and the problem is that they take too much of our time. They believe in the Trinity: The conceived the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as each being a go. These are three entities, or, beings, thus three gods. The oneness of the Trinity is not found in oneness of “essence” but in love and purpose. Deuteronomy 6:4 tell us that God is one. You have to understand then they got their revelation from the angel of light, we call this angel Luzbelle, Satan. Galatians 1:8 “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned” If you want a philosophic explanation of way God is one, you could read Physics from Aristotle, or the “Guide for the Perplex” from Maimonides, there you will find the postulates over the existence of God and its attributes. The Mormons are Polytheists. “I will preach on the plurality of Gods (Teaching of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Joseph Smith, p. 370). “Adam is our father and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do” (Doctrines of Salvation, Sermons and Writings of Joseph Fielding Smith, Vol 1, pp. 96 ff.) That there is only one God is firmly established by both the Old and New Testaments Deut 6:4, 1 Cor 8:4-6 abounding on this John 5:23, 15:26, 1 Cor 2:14, God is the Creator (Col 1:16) The will say they believe in Jesus, and that they love him, this is another Jesus, is not the Jesus of the Bible, they could even cry over this. Since the Bible does not accommodate to the requirement of its new faith Joseph Smith attempt a translation of his own. By scholarly standards it is regarded as a very poor translation, their Inspired Version of the Bible (it could be an inspired translation of course, but what is in doubt is who inspired it) If you still want to know more you can ask about their temples, their rituals, the Masons, the reasons for Polygamy, Baptism for the dead, the LDS and the Non-white Races. I suggest you not to get into discussion with them, that will lead to nothing. Try to share with him the grace of God, this is the most important point, get strong in your faith and give them example of live, living your life as a Christian. God Bless you Oscar |

3 | Should we Divorce? | Mal 2:16 | oscar2 | 31305
No matter how many years in the ministry a person has, no matter if she have or not the gift of prophesy. Our Lord wants to construct not to destroy. He is always working on our side to turn the bad into good. Our Lord could use anybody to rise your marriage; He died for our sins, He could expect you to reconciliate with Him that means confession of sin, prayer. God do not destroy He construct. His judgment does not came from a fellow with the gift of prophesy. Love her and love your children, there is no unforgivable sin, except to be close to the spirit. I met a person on the same ministry, that said that got put a Jaguar in her hearth, she had a kid that was almost abandoned because of her ministry. God does not promote cars. Try, both of you, to get in touch with Him, pray together. You did bad living together before getting married. Do you think than divorcing you will be free of that sin? Does this iluminated person think that the err and truth are parallel ways, that you can be in sin, then you jump to the side and bingo, you are free of sin? No, my friend. Breaking you marriage, you are going to do worst for you, for your wife and for your kids. Pray, and ask for intercessory pray. The judgment is not here, not yet. With Love Oscar |

4 | How do I refute evolutions finer points? | Bible general Archive 1 | oscar2 | 31303
I think you located yourself very high, it is like asking for how to build the 100 store, when you still do not know how the basement was built. If you want scientific material refuting natural selection, you already are behind, way behind to understand that material. I am so sorry that Evolution does not make any sense from the scientific point of view, because in order to occur there is a need for many more miracles than for Creation. Trying to understand the very beginning of this theory puts so many inconsistencies that they can resolve only through God's intervention. As you could see, a person that really believe in Evolution has to believe in super natural intervention in every step, even before the first cell, and worst and we progress to sexual reproduction. I will recommend you to study theory of information, physic, chemistry, astronomy, bio-engineering, among others. Take your time and do not beleive on pseudo scientists. As much as you study, the more conviced you get that God create and sustain the whole creation. Do not beleive in traditional or folk saying. Majority was wrong most of the time. God Bless you |

5 | wandering why the forth commandment is | Col 2:16 | oscar2 | 31222
To exhaust the matter: I do not think we should stick on the intents, as Charis thinks, maybe you should read Dante's Divine Comedy to know that Hell is paved of good intentions. I keep God commandments, because we love Him, and He says, "if you love me, keeps my commandments”, that is very clear. The fact that Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath does not mean that we have authority to change His Sabbath. “But the seven day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God” Ex 20:10 “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, an all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it” Ex 20:11. “ Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you Ex 31:4. Therefore is not only a day to rest and worship, it is holly. For a perpetual covenant, it is forever, eternal Ex 31:16. It is the day of holly convocation. Lev 23:3 We must “Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.” Deut 5:12, not because He had an intention with that. We do not interpret His intentions as his ways are higher that our ways. The Sabbath is to be a sign between God and its people. Ezekiel 20:12, is more than a day of rest, or a holly day, it is a sign. Ezekiel 20:20 Mathew writes; “In the en of the Sabbath, as it began to down towards the first day of the week ..” Mat 28:1 and Mark equates the dawn with “the rising of the sun”, “and when the Sabbath was past, … And very early in the morning of the first day of the week” Mark 16:1-3. Another reference Mark 16:9 “Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, …”, and a Fourth reference Luke 24:1-2 “Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning …” , and a fifth reference John 20:1 “The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, …” There is no doubt that Jesus rested on the grave on the Sabbath and resurrection occurs on Sunday. John mentions the “first day” on the same chapter, and sometimes is mistaken as a Sunday worship. “The same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors where shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, …” John 20:19 Even when they were gathered it was not for worship but because of fear of the Jews. In Corinthians 16:1-2 Paul wrote: “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come, …” Lets notice what the apostle said and also what he did not say. Paul was writing appeals to the churches in Asia Minor, not talking about a collection plate being passed, and it was because many of the Christians in Jerusalem were suffering for lack of food and daily necessities. Paul asked the church in Corinth to gather food, clothing, etc. and store it at home until he could send men to transport it to Jerusalem. “lay by him in store”, in the original Greek has the meaning of putting aside at home. There was no service on Sunday. The gathering up and store was to be done on Sunday. The letter was to be shared on the Sabbath, when all were gathering for worship, and the first opportunity to do the collection and store was on Sunday, the first day of the week. Now lets review Acts 20:6-13, There are some unusual things on this all-night gathering in Troas. First of all, it had to be a solemn occasion for the speaker and the congregation, as Paul was living forever “shall see my face no more”. The night setting would require that it be held on Saturday night. The Sabbath ended at sundown, and the first day of the week began. Paul, who had stayed a full seven days so that he could be with the people over the Sabbath, decided not leave with the ship on Saturday night. Instead he fellowshipped all night long and then walked twenty miles across the peninsula on Sunday morning to joint the boat in Assos. Some people confuse the breaking of the bread with the holly communion; Luke assures us that those early Christians broke bread daily. Said this I cannot find another scriptural sustain for the Sunday to be holly, instead of the Sabbath of the Lord. God Bless you Oscar |

6 | 7th day | Col 2:16 | oscar2 | 31208
As Charis wrote: "Jesus rose on the first day of the week", he kept the Sabbath. the days are named in the Bible as: -The first day of the week. -the second day of the week. -the third day of the week. -The fourth day of the week. -the fifth day of the week. -the day of Preparation -the Sabbath. The first day of the week is the Day of the Lord, it is when creation began, it had also to be the day of resurreccion (for the same reason), we can celebrate this day as we should celebrate every day. The day of preparation is the sixth day, but the Sabbath is the day that the Lord rested, after creacion and after his passion, he rested on the grave He did not violated it. I respect the fact that you consider Saturday a day of Preparation, that is your decision. But the point is not that you are wrong, but that the day of Preparation (biblically is Friday). I agree that the day of the Lord is the Sunday, but do you agree that the Sabbath is Saturday? That's the day that is commanded to rest, because in the seventh day He rested, and because he put not your Sunday, but the Saturday as a sign, by which he will recognize us. After all, He put his laws in our heart, but it is up to us to follow them or not, and nobody can judge us if we do not do it. God Bless you Oscar |

7 | Do you keep ALL of the Mosaic Law? | Col 2:16 | oscar2 | 31205
I do agree that to say error is to err. To point it out in the mid of a conversation as you did is not what we can expect from a Christian. That person that wrote error, instead of err, maybe speaks more languages that you ever did, and is writing very well for a language that is not his mother's tongue. He can solve the err using a Spell checker and that takes few seconds, can you be nicer in such a short term? Two are the laws. The Ceremonial Law and the Law of God, and you know that very well. The ceremonial law is abolished, but not the Law of God, where did you study your theology? God Himself inspired all the Pentateuch, but even so, these two laws had different categories, and Mosses order to put the ceremonial Law not in the arc but besides the arc, that is the temporary law, the Eternal Law was in the arc of the covenant, inside to be kept forever. God Bless you Oscar |

No we do not follow the Mosaic Law, that is the ceremonial law. I think we are talking here about the Eternal Law of God, not the ceremoinal law. The ceremonial Law was abolished. |

11 | Sabbath laws....do? or don't? | Col 2:16 | oscar2 | 31201
Do you mean that traditions of man could be before the Law of God? and, nobody should question it before the time? Do you think that a question on the subject is a judgment? Could it not be love? I understand that Beatitudes are not laws but eternal truths, so Jesus do not command you to be poor on Spirit, but tells you, among others: Oh Bless! poor on Spirit, yours is the kingdom of heaven. That you can interprete as: Happy are you that do not believe to know every thing, because you will know the will of God. Oscar |

12 | wandering why the forth commandment is | Col 2:16 | oscar2 | 31200
There are two laws: the ceremonial law and the law (the ten commandments). With Christ the ceremonial law was abolished. When was the fourth commandment abolished or changed category? Please let us know. This is something that is not that clear. Oscar |

13 | Newcomer's response sabbath questions | Col 2:16 | oscar2 | 31199
Hi Tim, I didn't know that the New testament was plenty of writting telling that it is not necessary to keep the Sabbath, I missed them all. Would you please post them? It will also be nice to now when did Jesus abolished the Sabbath. Sorry, this is so new for me. Oscar |

14 | wandering why the forth commandment is | Col 2:16 | oscar2 | 31197
I think your question should be stated the other way around: “Why, if the fourth commandment order to keep the Sabbath holy, we do not observe it anymore” This is a very sensible question. There are several arguments regarding the change: 1. It is said, by the Roman Catholic Church, that the Sabbath was made for man (Mark 2:27) therefore man can change it. This is not quit true because Jesus said that not even a Jot of the law will be changed, also that he did not came to change the law but to fulfill the law. 2. That the first day of the day is more suitable to spend time in worship with God is a non-sense assertion. We were commanded to keep the Sabbath holy because God made everything in six days and he rested on the Sabbath. In the assumption that creation took only three days, the fourth day had to be the Sabbath. Therefore, the only way the Sunday would be the Sabbath of the Lord is we assert that there was no creation. You have to read Dan 7:25 to understand that the Beast will think to change the law and the times and it already did it. 3. That the Sabbath was given as a time for rest. But the Sabbath was put as a sign between God and His people, we should be recognized by keeping the Sabbath of the Lord, no the Sabbath of the Church. 4. That Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath; therefore, his Vicar has the authority to change the Law and times. There is no biblical sustain that Jesus gave anybody authority to change the Law or times, except that given to the beast (Rev 13:2). Jesus kept the Sabbath, and he rested on the grave on the Sabbath. 5. That the law is not in force. This is half the truth. There are two laws: The Law the God, that was set on the arc of the covenant and the ceremonial law, that Moses ordered to put besides the arc of the covenant. The second one, the ceremonial law is not in force, since the sacrifice of Our Lord. But the Lord says: “if you love me you will keep my commandments”, All of them, there is no exceptions. 6. That Paul preached one day on the First day of the week (Acts 20:7). The Christians use to live in communities and they use to break bread every day. As we can see this day Paul preach on Sunday at noon and broke bread with the others, he continue preaching till midnight. Eutychus fall down and after Paul embrace him, and then they break bread, on the morning of Tuesday. We could speculate on this but still is not conclusive that the Christian met on the first day of the week. 7. The Old Testament does not command the gentile nations to observe the Sabbath. This is true, the Old Testament was no given to the gentiles, therefore it cannot give commands to the gentiles, it is only for the people of God, when the Gentiles convert to the people of God, they are suppose to follow the Law of God, not the ceremonial law, and the Sabbath is not on the ceremonial law of Moses, but in the law of God. 8. Before the time of Moses, God kept the Sabbath. 9. That Paul did not warn the Gentiles about breaking the Sabbath, this is true, but there are many others sins that Paul does not mentioned. While the Beast thinks he change the Law and times, he did not. The Sabbath is the Saturday and it will always be. The Papacy uses Sunday to commemorate the resurrection of Our Lord and to break bread and persecute all Christians that kept the Sabbath, as Jewisants, in this way most of the Christians do not keep the Sabbath, which is the sign that the Lord said was the sign by which He will recognize us. I think that we should go to church for service every Sunday, but we should always keep the Sabbath, even if it has to be in private form. The very last beast of Revelation already in forces the Sunday as the “Sabbath”. You will find a lot of non-sense in this kind of discussion, as we keep the Sabbath even if we do not call it Sabbath. In history we change or jump over some dates in order to put order on our calendar, but the seven day cycle was never changed, therefore the Sabbath is the Sabbath, and it is Saturday. God Bless you Oscar |

15 | Does Jesus make a difference in life? | Bible general Archive 1 | oscar2 | 31163
I am so glad you made this question. It is a complicated question because you are using terms as "atheists" and "agnostics"; this makes a little bit difficult to understand your question. An "Atheist" is a person that has no God, because he decided not to have it or because he is a kind of a philosopher. If he decided not to have it, (which means he believe He exist) then he is a fool, read Psalm 1. If he is a kind of a Philosopher he should know that you could philosophically proof the existence of something, but not the reverse. There is no way to proof the non-existence of something, therefore he does not know enough about philosophy as he thinks. Psalm 1 will also help you. The “agnostic” is unbeliever, this means only three things: he knows and does not believe; or, he is not interested; or, he does not believe in the God of the Christians. If he knows and does not believe, go back to Psalm 1. If he is not interested in knowing, that is his problem, we just can pray to God to give him light, but is not a good company either. An if he does not believe in the God of the Christians, is also his choice, maybe he has talk to many people but he is still on the forms, not in the essence, it could be good for him to read some Christian theology. I had the opportunity to talk with a lady, which was a Christian (that’s what she said) she had a very personal conception of moral, she told me to be a liberal Christian. Well, my friend, there is no such a thing like liberal and conservative Christian. There is only a Bible, and there is a Christian norm. Many of the Christians that we find, they belong to the team, but they are not willing to play, and young and inexperience people could get confused with those that being Christians do not live a Christian life. We are not to judge anybody, His is the judgment. Once you learn a little bit more about life, you will also learn that to tango, you need two. You have to go through a divorce to understand that even for non Christians divorce is a catastrophe, is like getting broke; is like falling apart, is something so painful that no body goes happily through a divorce. I do not think statistics is a measure of spirituality, neither be a confessed Christian. To make a difference is not enough to belong to a Christian church, but to live on Our Lord, and in this case, both of the spouses. To use the statistics of divorce as a measure of the effectiveness of being a Christian is to believe that buying an aspirin you will get rid of the your headache. No my friend you also have to take the aspirin in the adequate doses. The problem gets more complicated when both spouses have to make their part. Blessed are those that do not judge. Those that judge, they will be judged twice, once for his deeds; then, for their judgments. I hope this will help you, Oscar |

16 | Let me know as early as possible? | Bible general Archive 1 | oscar2 | 31154
I think you are a little bit confused. There is only one Bible and many translations. This is something that could not be to dificult to understand. Any serious translation will start from the Masoretic text, this book is not written in English as could imagine. There is no two languages that keep a one to one correspondence between them. If you just try with a very simple noun as "spring" you will find that there is a complete concept behind, you can imagine something that restitute to a previous status, position, etc. The season Spring is a kind of restitution to full power in nature; but, spring is also used on cars, as part of the suspension. When a cult makes its all Bible, it manipulates the translation at their will. You will find that most Christian Bibles even when slightly different they keep the essence of the message and that is what you should look for, the essence, but not the form. Should you find the comparison between two versions in contrast or opposition, you should go to the interlinear where you will find a word by word translation, the interlinear is against the masoretic text. Even then, you can be inclined to your own interpretation, I'll tell you if you are a well intensioned person you will find no real difference with a Christian translation. It seems to me that you are a "purist", you should try to read the Bible on Hebrew and also study the generaly accepted rules of translation. God Bless you. Oscar |
