1 | How is the word perceived being used? | Ex 20:18 | odsmith | 189775 | ||
For Exodus 20:18, I noted that the word perceived is usd here. It intrigues me that this seems like an understatement. Isreal saw the lightning and smoke, and felt the thundering and heard the sound of the trumpet. This requires much less then perception, unless what they were perceiving was the presence of God in the midst of the thunder, lightning and smoke. The passage does not give detail about the number who perceived or if others did not perceive. My question is this: Proverbs 1:7 states that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Could it be that what the Exodus verse is stating is that what Isreal perceived was the fear of the Lord and not just the physical signs alone? Thanks Doug |
