Act 8:17 Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. I know this is not how one receives the Holy Ghost today, but where in Scripture did it begin happening any other way? |

6 | what is meant by work out your own salva | Philippians | nuge | 54462
If you read the immediate context of the verse, you will see that Paul is talking about the fact that he will be absent and not able to baby sit the Philippians. He commends them that they do well, both in his presence and his absence, but now he might not be coming back. (Remember, Paul at the time of this writing is awaiting death in prison in Rome). When I was a new believer, I had an incredible support group. After a short growth spurt, I came to these people privately and asked if they would carry a particular prayer burden for me. To a person, they all refused. I was shocked. The result was that I had to learn to pray for myself... and quick. The point is I had to work it out myself.... as in Paul to the Philippians. |

7 | Circus Churchianity vs.Spirt-led worship | Philippians | nuge | 54383
Phil 3:3 We are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit..no confidence in the flesh. I find it sooo hard to worship in Church. Entertaiment is the order of the day there and that is plentiful and professional and addicting. But, where is the Spirit of God? I'm sure that "feeling" I get when the entertainers are in full bloom is not The Holy Spirit. ( Rom 2:25-29 Col 2:11 ). Legal worship is outward today too., acts for show, ( as in entertaiment ). Restricted for certain times and places. Appointments are made "Holy Ghost Revivals" where God is on the marquee to perform for us. Men still require human demonstrations above the outworking of The Holy Spirit. Is there something in the circus tent than men require? Why do we return to it? Christian worship is spiritual,( Rom 12:1 ).( Rom 1:9 ). "make our boast in Christ Jesus," not in the law: The contrast is stark. |

8 | Phil 3:2/ Legalism | Phil 3:2 | nuge | 54341
Philippians 3:2 Look out for those dogs [Judaizers, legalists], look out for those mischief-makers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. Is this a report against the Law? It surely is against those who would try to convince Gentile Christians to get circumsized. How far do we go with this? |

10 | Over and over.. line on line, again | Phil 3:1 | nuge | 54339
Philippians 3:1 FOR THE rest, my brethren, delight yourselves in the Lord and continue to rejoice that you are in Him. To keep writing to you [over and over] of the same things is not irksome to me, and it is [a precaution] for your safety. In parenting, or in discipleship, gentle repetition bears fruit. |
