hello justme: Did you read the articles of my own and MJH? If there is a right or wrong here, which I don't believe there needs to be, you have pretty much sealed the debate through "contempt prior to investigation." thanx for bringing up the topic. God Bless "We can agree to disagree."-anonymous |

I was gonna respond but MJH pretty well covered it. There is no issue of right or wrong here. We each have to choose what we are comfortable with, where God leads us. Justme.. The link you posted doesn't address where the information came from. God Bless All. Praise Christ! |

Thanx much MJH. you saved me the time of explaining :-) I hadn't thought about it, I like the idea of the passover celebration. Too me it is actually a dual celebration of what to me appears to be the same date. The day the Holy Spirit entered the Apostles and Exodus. I guess that is what you are saying with "both Exodus and Resurrection." This only recently occurred to me that it covered both. From the sounds of what you were saying one might consider Easter a celebration of all the above. My father could be a bit of an ill-tempered (but good humored) cynic. He proposed nailing the bunny to a cross. (he was not mocking the resurrection of course, just the bunny :-) is that too sick? God Bless Nick |

I am a dedicated follower of Christ. "Christ's slave" as Paul puts it. I had heard this about the word Easter and it bothered me lots, whether I should be using the word, I found it is a common misconception that the word Easter was derived as you say. But after extensive research I am convinced it is Not True. It was misinformation created by German Nationalists, I believe, a long time ago. There are mixed opinions on this, but I was trying to nail down facts rather than opinions.. to my own satisfaction. Don't want to debate or make it an issue. But read this factual research and you can decide. Or research it further yourself. The further I dug into it the more I decided I'm fine with the word... Maybe you won't have to grieve at any rate, at least please don't for me :-) I don't have much use for the Bunny though :-) This is the article I thought most factual. http://www.celtic-catholic-church.org/oak_tree/easter.html |
