Dear Justme: Keep in mind that just because we are born again does not mean that we have "shed" [or will shed in time] the old sin nature. Jesus reminded us in the story of the Prodigal Son [Luke 15] that there are two trends in the old sin nature of believers (yes, they [the brothers] were sons [Believers] and remained sons even though they were both in sin: Luke 15:11): the trends of the old sin nature are legalism and lawlessness (read antinomianism). [This observation is also found in the book of Galatians]. The younger son lived in lawlessness (antinomianism) for a period while his older brother lived in legalism (asceticism) for a period. They were both in error even though they they were believers. Today we find that many believers have not matured [spiritually] to the point that they can maintain a stable mental attitude when another believer says or does something that conflicts with their particular spiritual bias [read taboo or tradition]. Many believers think it is their responsibility to cruelly criticize other believers and do so with regularity. The commandment of our Lord to love one another means to love with impersonal love based upon your integrity as a believer, not based upon what others do to you. Remember, it is easy to love those who love you. You have been victimized by such treatment. And what is your response? Love the brethren (Family of God) based upon your integrity, not their behavior. Take heart Child of God. Christ has overcome the world [the cosmic system]. He is our only true source of light and life--the Mind of Christ--so roll with it and keep on moving in your walk. Remember: the religious folk killed the Savior. May God richly bless you in your walk. Jude 24-25 NCCEO |
