5 | "This subject of election...." | 1 Tim 2:4 | mylene | 48406
As I matured in my walk with the Lord the subject of election became a big question mark. I posted my question on this forum and I found the answers to be extreme from both sides. The following has been the best explanation I have ever heard and I wanted to share it with you all. "This subject of election...has been debated by the best of Theologians for all the centuries and it is a definite paradox of scripture....Many times we want to reduce it down to our finite minds..but it is something we simply must trust a just and fair God with. We must know from scripture that we are chosen...and God is the initiator and provider even of the faith so we can believe....But I believe that God has a role and man has a responsibility. God's role....He wills John 1:12-13 He draws John 6:44 He chooses Ephe l:4 and II Thess 2:13 He saves..II Tim l:9 Just like in sanctification...does God override our will to make us like Him..We must cooperate with the Spirit by obedience to be sanctified....and We are responsible for our sin...John 3:18 Rev. 20:12-13. Again, people who reject the gospel and not excused because they are not elect...they are responsible for their sin...We can not reconcile all of this in our minds...but scripture teaches it and we must accept it by faith....At salvation...God is the one who enables us to believe...but we make a conscious decision of the will to turn and repent......." God Bless! |

6 | Prayer Chains and biblical truth. | James 5:16 | mylene | 48298
I confess that I had been influenced by false teachings. I had been advised, by a "matured" Christian and family member not to share it to protect her from the tactless remarks. I have made the call Mommapbs! I have also read your profile and this forum has also been a blessing to me. I'll work on my profile. I love the Lord and I delight in His ways! |

7 | Prayer Chains and biblical truth. | Not Specified | mylene | 48232
Prayer Chains. I have a 9 year old that has just been diagnosed with a heart condition. I trust the Lord with all my heart and I'm not anxious. Psalm 121. But, I have always asked for prayers for others and I find myself wanting to protect my little one i.e. from well intentions but sometimes tactless remarks and have not added her to our churches prayer chain. I storm the gates of heaven praying for my little girl...am I missing biblical doctrine regarding prayer chain? God Bless! and P.S. Thanks for protecting this website from attacks. |

9 | 2 Sam 23:4 Does mentoring apply? | Not Specified | mylene | 34511
2 Samuel 23:4 Forgive me if I missed the question on my search. I'm coordinating the Mother's Day Event for my church (although we will not be calling it that this year because sounds too secular, according to the women's council). They want to talk about women and mentoring. I know about the Titus women and the instruction there, and I want to present this message: #1 the responsibility of Christians to come under instruction #2 the responsibility of the mentors to do this in a loving and nonjudgemental way #3 the blessings So I came across the last words of David (I know that the scripture does not speak to women per say but it spoke to me!) My bible explains this verse as "The benefits of righteous rule are enlighment, fruitfulness, and refreshment". Thank you so much for your feedback. Also, please praise with me our AWESOME GOD for saving my sister and adopting her into His family. I have prayed for over 10 years. Never give up praying, no matter how discourage you become at times. God Bless. |

13 | John 3:16.. whoever believes not perish? | Not Specified | mylene | 28928
I have read a lot, seems like all, the Calvinist/Arminian arguments regarding election and still have some questions which I would greatly appreciate your response. #1 How does one know that he/she is a chosen one? #2 If one is not chosen, one does not necessarily go to hell, right? Well, where do the unchosen go after death? #3 It is His will than none should perish...but then that scripture is turned around and somehow end up in only chosen ones? #4 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Why did this verse not say the chosen ones only? #5 Is this a secondary argument and not the basis for one to leave their church? By no means do I intend to sound argumentive. Please don't "retalliate" just help me understand the two sides better. God Bless You ALL! Mylene |

15 | Did Satan wait to tempt Jesus? | Matt 4:2 | mylene | 19995
In our precept study we went back and forth on this issue: Did Satan tempt Jesus DURING the forty days or did he wait for the forty day period to end and then tempt him? Is it that we are just reading too much into the words used, are we dividing the word of God? It is just hard to imagine that Satan just did nothing for 40 days. I heard many different scriptures quoted today that can back up both sides, including a comment that there were many temptations but the bible only mentions the most mentionable....??

I strongly disagree. The bible is very specific about reproof and correction. Be gentle and loving, but it is important that you follow the instructions on Matthew 18:15-17 so that you, Theresa, may do the right thing and not just letting your tongue cause you to sin.

20 | Isn't heaven just for God? | Eph 6:12 | mylene | 19839
I can't understand why is there spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places? Heaven is for God and His angels. How can the two share the same expanse? I thought the wickedness was here on earth?
