I beg to differ from your opinion about the lake of fire. God is great and greatly to be praised, but He is also a just God, the Almighty Judge, and a jealous God. God gives us an opprtunity to accept salvation. It is not your sin that sends you to hell, only. It is a person's disregard of the gift of salvation that sends us to hell. When Jesus taught, some people accepted and believed while others didn't. Some people changed while others mocked. But in the end, the only way is Christ. Jesus speaks himself in Revelations 21 that all who did not believe, idol worshippers, etc. are doomed to spend eternity in the lake of fire. That's not torture, that's justice. For example, if a group of people decided to rob a bank and you are a part of that group, you then made a choice. If you decided not to, then you made another choice. Now say, you are called to court for the crime. Because you decided to choose differently, you won't suffer what the others suffer. But what if everyone had to suffer for the mistakes of others? Would that be true justice? God forbid. Therefore, God chose to allow one to suffer, Jesus. Now, all who doesn't accept the mercy of God by giving up His Son, Jesus, to die for us, should suffer eternal damnation. Sounds like justice to me. It's not about who goes to hell, but are we preparing ourselves for heaven? My thought is I want every one of God's people to go to heaven.
2 | Understanding being saved. | Romans | married2jesus | 175001
I often wondered about this myself. If a person is saved, then why do we backslide? When someone says "once saved is always saved", he or she is referring to our life with Christ. The Bible says "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" The salvation comes from accepting Jesus as Lord. When we believe with our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, then we are saved. That's just one part. From then on, we must allow God to purify us from our sins. Paul said it best in Romans that even when I want to do good, evil is present. But we have grace. Salvation doesn't mean that you won't ever sin. It means that you are free from the burden of sin. You have a wonderful opportunity to go to Jesus, confess your sins, and receive forgiveness. That's why we get saved once. From there, it becomes our responsibilty to talk and listen to the Father for direction. Satan uses people to make us believe that when we sin, we are not saved. If that was true, then why would Jesus die while we were sinners? What will be the reason for His grace? Remember this, God created you. He knows your thoughts and actions before you think of it. He knows actually when you will sin and what you will do. But through the salvation of Jesus Christ, He gives you a choice to repent and do better. Once you ask God to forgive you, He does just that, then He forgets. From that point on, Jesus' blood has wiped your slate clean to start over. It is our human thoughts that condemns us, not God. In the book of John, it says God did not come to condemn the world, but through Him, the world would be saved. You are a child of God. And as a parent, I don't disown my child just because she messes up. I love her enough to give her a choice to listen to me. If she disobeys and comes back to ask for forgiveness, I do just that because I love her. And from there, I forget. I teach her the right way, but I stand back and allow her to learn her lesson. But I never stop loving her. Now, I am just a creation and a image of the Creator. How much more does God love us?
