1 | Problem understanding Exodus 4:25-26. | Not Specified | mare4christ | 78426
Exodus 4:25-26: Why did Zipporah perform the circumcision, when Genesis 17:12 said it was to be done when the child is 8 days old and had assumed it was done by the male member of the family (Abraham performed it in Genesis where the word is first used)? Why did she call Moses "a bridegoom of blood to me" after she had done this thing? |

3 | Why did God send an evil spirit to Saul? | Not Specified | mare4christ | 78425
1 Samuel 18:10: I know that God is good and only sends good things to his children, but why was an "evil spirit from God" sent upon Saul. From reading the previous chapters I know that God took the kingdom away from Saul but is there something in the translation that is misleading me about God sending an evil spirit. In studying the rest of the Bible I have come to understand that God chastises those He loves, and tests us to refine us etc., but never tempts us and to me an evil spirit would be a form of temptation. What am I missing in this passage?

5 | Did God honor Jephthah's vow? | Not Specified | mare4christ | 78424
2. Judges 11:30-31 Jephthah made a vow to the Lord that if He were to give the sons of Ammon into his hand that he would offer as a burnt offering the first thing that came out from his doors upon his return. I wonder if God would honor such a vow since this would be a human sacrifice and that to me would be like the people who worshipped Molech and offered their children on the altar. I would like to believe that she like Samuel was given to the temple to serve as a virgin all of her days, but have heard contrary on some commentaries. In this case could Jephthah used the scripture in Leviticus concerning difficult vows 27:1-8, which to me this would be a difficult vow for both him and God, considering what was ultimately being offered in the vow. Or did he actually sacrifice her as a burnt offering? |

9 | Missing Verses in Bible translations | Not Specified | mare4christ | 64687
I read the Bible in the NKJV and the NASB and during Bible study last evening we were in Matthew 20. In verse 16 the NASB left the last sentence "for many are called, but few chosen". My NKJV states that this verse was omitted in the NU-Text (Nestle-Aland Greek and United Bible Societies 4th edition). There are other verses that have also been omitted as well and I wonder who is Nestle-Aland or United Bible Society and should these verses be included?

11 | What exactly is predestination? | Not Specified | mare4christ | 49607
I am a new Christian and find that there are so many with different ideas about the Bible that it is quite confusing at times in trying to understand. My question at this point is in regards to being told that God knows who is going to be saved and when they will be saved even before we were born. If this is true where does free will play in our lives and if everything is predetermined as to the outcome what is the point of prayer?
