1 | Lands razed ; prophesized be barren ever | Bible general Archive 3 | marcelle19 | 176224
Thanks again, CDBJ. That is one of the verses I had in mind when I said his heart had been hardened and eyes blinded, among other things. Prayer does seem to be the only way in some cases. Matt. 7:6 - "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." The treasure of the Gospel cannot be given in obvious pearls to those who reject it outright, but we can leave a trial of crumbs for them to follow, sometimes, and hope that, by God's grace, they are part of the elect, despite their former and present behavior, and His grace and power in Jesus Christ will call them to repentance and eternal life. Thank you again, Brother, and God bless and keep you. And oh, if you do happen to recall any of those passages of the razed lands that remain barren to this day, that would be a blessing, as well. :O) |

Unfortunately, this man will NOT listen to anything remotely resembling anything from Christianity, especially if it contains the name of our Lord. His eyes have been closed and his heart hardened, but I pray for him. I have spoken of Christ and God the Father to him, but he will not listen to it, unless, perhaps, as you say, God opens him up to it. Josh McDowell, the well known apologist, started out to disprove the Bible: the result was that he put together Evidence That Demands a Verdict, and in doing so, became a believer. The overwhelming historical evidence of the truth of the Bible and its contents played a large part in that, although, as we both know, no man can come to Christ unless the Father calls him. Josh was called, but the method the Father used to call him was a series of very detailed investigations whereby Josh sought to disprove the Bible and God's truth. I believe it is only through Jesus we are saved, by faith inherent in the grace that God the Father gives to His elect. I know this to be true, because God has led me to this - His truth and eternal life in Jesus Christ. However, I believe God uses different means to reach out to different people. This man has rejected the gospel time and time again - but I will not give up hope for him to receive it. This is why I asked for the prophesies concerning lands that God had destroyed and that remain so to this day, even though it would seem - at least on some of them - that it would make perfect sense to build a city in that very place because of soil fertility, locational advantage (seaport, for example), etc. Thanks for your answer. I will look some more. In His Love, -Bill |

3 | Lands razed ; prophesized be barren ever | Not Specified | marcelle19 | 176018
Hello, all. I have a friend who is an athetist, whom I told of some of the prophecy in the OT which speaks of lands/cities which were laid waste, according to the word of the Lord, and prophesied that there would never be anything there (on those lands/cities) again. I know that today there are places that would be ideal to build cities on, with sea ports and what have you, but since it has been a very long time since I studied these things, I'm asking for several examples that show up in our more "modern" day; i.e., that there are places where it would be ideal to build, and no reason not too build other than the prophecy of the Lord regarding them. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you in advance. -Bill |

5 | Define "replenish" in Genesis 1:28 | Gen 1:28 | marcelle19 | 170345
In some Bible versions, the word "replenish," as it occurs in Genesis 1:28, is used, and I have been asked by a friend to explain the meaning of the word to them. The Amplified seems to agree with the overall theme I found in Strong's, but I would like to have more feedback on this one. Thank you in advance. :O) |
