3 | Favoritism? | Acts 10:34 | lovemuch | 118923
i completely understand that God does not show favoritism, however there is something that i am confused about. if God doesn't show favoritism, why did He have a "chosen" people? why salvation "first for the Jew and then for the Gentile?" just curious.

5 | Waiting place before heaven Part 2 | 2 Corinthians | lovemuch | 100365
Thanks for the scripture, this helps me undertand that Christians go directly to heaven when they die. But, did this also happen before Jesus came? Where did Old Testament people go after they died? Straight to heaven, or what?
6 | Wating place before heaven? | Not Specified | lovemuch | 100239
Where do people go directly after they die? i don't really have a specific scripture or passage to direct this question towards, however, i've heard many different theories that are believed to be true: some people believe that there is a waiting place that people go to after they die and wait there until judgment day. others believe that you just enter a state of rest after you die. others believe that you go straight to heaven. i would just like to know if there is any Biblical backup for any of these theories. thanks for the help.

8 | Jesus made perfect? | Heb 5:9 | lovemuch | 94388
This verse is a bit puzzling for me. the author of Hebrews is obviously talking about Jesus who is our source of eternal salvation. however, does the phrase "having been made perfect" imply that Jesus wasn't perfect at one point? i have full confidence and belief that Jesus is 100 percent God and fully perfect, but the wording of this particular verse just threw me off a little.

11 | still unpunished? | Rom 3:25 | lovemuch | 84044
gracefull, yes thanks! your reply helped me alot, but i still have one lingering question. i understand that the blood of animal sacrafices cannot take away the sins of the people, however, does this mean that their sins just go unpunished? Does God not judge these people based on their "righteousness" or how they obey the commandments? or do they not get judged at all? thanks again.

13 | Unpunished Sins? | Rom 3:25 | lovemuch | 83661
This verse states that "He [God] did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished..." (NIV) Does this mean that God let the sins of the people before Christ's death go unpunished? Didn't they have to sacrifice animals, plants, incense, etc. to atone for their sins? If not, then what sins is this verse talking about and why did they go unpunished?
14 | What about weeks and months? | Matt 24:36 | lovemuch | 81605
This verse states that no one knows the day or the hour that Christ will return. in one of my theology classes, a professor stated a theory that he had about this verse. he believes that in accordance with this scripture no one will know the day or the hour, but we might possibly know the week, or the month or the year. i dont believe this theory, but i was just curious at the validity of that theory. scripture back-up would help. thanks.
15 | Angels falling today? | Is 14:13 | lovemuch | 80421
Emmaus, thank you for your reply, but there's still some things that i'm not quite sure on. i understand now that angels do indeed have a free will and choice, but i have one more question. if angels do indeed have a choice, is it possible that angels are still falling today? or was that a one time only choice, they either go with satan at that time or not at all? or, if an angel (foolishly) decided that they wanted to follow satan, could the leave God today? so, could we assume that angels are falling at this present time?
16 | Angels have free will? | Is 14:13 | lovemuch | 80193
From this verse and the previous verse we take the account of the fall of Lucifer or satan. We also biblically know that lucifer held a high position in heaven, a worship leader and head angel or something like that. Since lucifer sinned and was cast out of heaven for his jealousy of God, can we assume that angels also have a free will and the option of making choices between good and evil? i realize that there was a choice given to a third of the angels that followed satan after he was kicked out of heaven. do angels really have a free will? do they still (today) have the option to leave God's side and join satan? i didn't think that angels had a choice. i thought that their created purpose was the service and worship of our Holy God. i thought that this is what separated them from us. angels were created to do God's will and we were created with the choice. i could be totally wrong on everything that i've stated, but i'm curious, my bible class is discussing this topic and we all have a lot of questions. i'd appreciate any help with these questions. thanks. |
