1 | Clarification | Matt 28:19 | load | 43387
Thanks for your note, the same question was asked of me. Please allow me to clarify what you're saying. Given the 2 verses: Matthew 28:19 ...into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Acts 10:48 ...baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. 1. Even though the phraseology is different, both verses state that baptism should be done UNDER THE AUTHORITY of Jesus. 2. It is wrong to conclude that Peter is instructing us to baptise in the name of Jesus only, and not in the name of the Father or Spirit. Thanks, load |

5 | ...intended to pass by them? | Mark 6:48 | load | 1893
Pretty incredible picture here. It appears as though Jesus did not intend to be seen. Why? Any insights about the word "intended"?

Thought I'd get this pending question off the board since it seemed to be duplicated. See my note to Charis below.
7 | Just as if I had never sinned? | 1 Cor 6:11 | load | 477
Some believers find it useful to remember complex doctrines of the Word with small, easy to remember anecdotes. My motive...to get opinions regarding the one I had heard regarding justification. After reading the postings, I am reminded of how one must be careful in the way they handle the truths of God, and to realize the importance of struggling with the Word until it has become a part of who we are and why we believe. Thanks for your comments. |

10 | "even" is confusing. | John 1:12 | load | 326
The word "even" in this verse is confusing. Almost as if "receiving Him" was not completely necessary, but atleast believing in Him...? I see receiving and believing as one in the same, but the word "even" seems to distinguish between them. Any comments?
11 | It must have some merit...no? | 1 Cor 6:11 | load | 256
Thanks charis. But am the only one to have heard this statement numerous times -- not from the pulpit, but from discussion and small group settings. It must have some merit...no?
12 | Just as if I had never sinned? | Not Specified | load | 251
I've heard the concept of justification being compared (for the sake of simplicity I'm sure) to the phrase "Just as if I had never sinned." Is this really an accurate picture of justification? (Not sure what verse to attach this to...)

14 | Take Your Holy Spirit from me? | Ps 51:11 | load | 166
A dear friend once admonished me to be careful when leading people (in worship) with the popular worship song "Create in me a clean heart". Can someone give me a good explanation that I might use regarding the idea (in this context) of God "taking His Spirit away"?
