1 | Peace...? | 2 Tim 2:15 | lmf | 121946
In the book of Proverbs it says to get wisdom and with it understanding so why not study both the sciences and God. Science will only lead you back to the one who created all. What a wonderful way to worship God than to continue proving His majesty and creative power to a world who does not know Him. Some very impressive people in history have a back ground of faith in God like Columbus who wrote in his journals that he found in the bible the world was round and set off to prove it, and many others. You said your own family needs to meet the God you know and love and I say why not use their own mindset to open their hearts up to Him. The doors of opportunities God is opening up in your life are so great being as you are young and love Him so much let Him show you the path He wants you to take and on that path you will have the peace youre looking for.
2 | firstfruit vs. tithe | Is 1:13 | lmf | 87876
Firstfruits is the old testament term of the tithe. In the OT the people gave the first born of their herds (the perfect ones) the very best of their first crop harvest. Today we give the first 10percent of all our increase financially. We exchange our time , our talents, our lives basically to our employer for money from that we honor God by giving Him a share of our lives that is used to support His Word being preached throughout the world, paying the bills on the church buildings-salaries etc. Beyond that we give offerings which should be an amount decided in prayer and to whom God wants you to give it and when we give God has promised that He will provide for us more seed to plant, our needs will be met, our desires. But we must always remember that it is God who gives us the power to get wealth and praise and honor Him and continue the spread of the Gospel to all the world. (Deut 8:18).
3 | Are we back to the absurd view...? | 2 Timothy | lmf | 87681
It seems to me that you clearly stated the problem when you said KJV-Only advocates are scared to death... Would you not agree that fear or more specifically the fear of death is the number one problem we as christians face. The scripture states there is no fear in love, and fear has torment. So fear that my faith could be side tracked by a mis-translated version could keep me from seeing God your way and keeps the body of Christ divided which I believe is a powerful satanic tool in keeping us from becoming one in Christ and preaching His Word to all the world and Jesus' return. 1John 4:18,Heb 2:14.
4 | How can the church decide saved/unsaved? | 2 Cor 5:8 | lmf | 84158
Good question! You would have to ask a Catholic Preist or Bishop and I am neither. The traditions of why cremation is not accepted as a proper burial was what I was sharing. Jesus said many times that accepting Him as Lord and Savior is the only way to the Father.
5 | Cremation | 2 Cor 5:8 | lmf | 84085
I asked the same question many years ago. When I was a teenager I attended a funeral service of a neighbors father. The man had lived and died in another state and was cremated. His daughter wanted to have a funeral in our state and bury him close to her. At the service his ashes stayed in the hearse because the Catholic church wouldn't allow them into the church building. Of course I found that very bazzar the guy wasn't allowed at his own funeral? What I was told was that in historical times when a person was considered evil possibly a prisoner, or leper, or what may have been the dredges of society at death their bodies were disposed of with the trash and burned. That was as if saying their lives had no value and considered disrespectful toward the person. As the catholics developed the church they adopted the tradition that only unclean, or unsaved were cremated and it seems to have spread like wild fire. I've never found a scripture that supports or denies any form of burial. I can not see how the God who is called Love in the books of John would refuse a person who loves Him entrance to heaven because their corpse wasn't taken care of in a paticular way. Otherwise there would be hundreds of thousands lost because of traditions and Jesus said Your traditions make your faith of no effect. Nothing is impossible to God so it is no problem for him to restore health to a living body being destroyed by disease or life to flesh thats been lifeless.
6 | Explan "Separation of Church and State". | Deuteronomy | lmf | 84025
Most people believe the words "seperation of church and state" are in the first amendement or another founding document. They aren't. In 1947 the Supreme Court Emerson vs Board of Education refered to and misinterepted the phrase used by T. Jefferson in a letter to the Danbury Baptist Ass. of Connecticut in 1802. Until 1833 many states had official state churches and the Baptists objected to the state of Conn. church Congregationalism. At that time the federal government was not allowed to establish a church but the states were allowed to choose a church. President Jeffereson responded to their request for help saying "I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of seperation between church and state." Pres. Jefferson believed that the Constitution for bade the federal government to intrude in state matters. The Constitution is the framework of our government established originally on the Declaration of Independence. J.Q. Adams said " The Declaration of Independence laid the cornerstone of government on the precepts of Christianity." We have been a faith filled people. Our fore fathers were men of faith and made sure that we have the right to choose how we worship, and even to choose not to believe in any God. Just as in Deut. God said I put before you life and death, blessing and cursing choose life. There are lots of websites that can supply the whole story in detail I just wanted to give you a start. Deut Ch. 28 and 30. |

7 | Why leave to anoint Jesus' body Mk 16:1? | Mark 16:1 | lmf | 83550
In Mark 15:42-47 We read the Sabbath was approaching so it was every important to Joseph of Arimathea that Jesus was taken care of before the day of the Lord. He took a risk in requesting the body from Pilate especially considering others were still in hiding. In vs 46 it describes how Jesus was layed out in the tomb but the preperation of His body was delayed because of the Sabbath traditions. It was after the Sabbath was over that the women went to the tomb to finish the anoiting with spices and oils and wrapping Him. I think you can reference to the story of Lazarus John 11:39-45. vs 44 And out walked the man who had been dead , his hands and feet wrapped in burial cloths (linen strips) and with a [burial] napkin bound around his face. Jesus said to them, free him of the burial wrappings and let him go. So this shows the burial practices of that time. Compare the burial of Lazarus to Jesus and you will see that they had not finished. So they would have found a way to open Jesus tomb.
8 | Define 'spiritual death' | 2 Cor 5:21 | lmf | 83387
Spiritual death is first described in Gen 2:17. This day you will surely die..we know Adam did not die for hundreds of years but he was seperated from God and sent out of the garden. So we can see seperation from God is spiritual death. Backed up in the NT 2Corinthians 4:4, John 3:1-7 and John 5:1-4.

10 | Graceful, 1 Cor 1:10 also? | 1 Cor 15:3 | lmf | 83122
Graceful, I am pleased that I blessed your day. Also, found in 1Cor.1:30-31 But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus. Whom God made our Wisdom from God, our Righteousness, and our Consecration, and our Redemption So then as it is written, Let him who boasts and proudly rejoices and glories, boast and proudly rejoice and glory in the Lord. My bible has a reference to Jeremiah 9:24 But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, Who practices loving-kindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord. As a witness for Christ we are too follow His example of love so that people see in us a true, alive, almighty God who knew we were not worthy of such love but loves us anyways and they want to find out how to find Him. It is sad that we as christians spend so much time tearing eachother down rather than building eachother up in the precious name of Jesus. |

11 | Why not tell others about Jesus miracles | Mark 3:12 | lmf | 83094
Matt 4:23-24 He went about all Galilee teaching and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people and his fame spread and they brought to Him all sick and He healed them. 5:2-and He opened His mouth, and taught them. Jesus used every opportunity He had to teach who He was and how His Father was different from the false gods they had been worshiping. Miracles were a part of His ministry but even in present time we can see that miracles dont build faith. Jesus knew the hearts of the people and what they would tell about what happened to them. Also, there were times when obedience was a part of what happened as in when He told the lepers to go show themselves to the preist and as they went they were healed but only 1 came back and gave thanks and praise. Luke 17:12-16. So we see all of them received their healing but only 1 received Jesus.

Acts 2:30-31-32 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh,he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we are all witnesses.

19 | what scripture is balderdash? | Bible general Archive 1 | lmf | 82917
Pauls attitude throughout Philippians and the other books he wrote is Jesus Christ is to be the focus of and reason for our lives and everything else has little value. In vs 6 he says Be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. In vs 19 he says God is our supply. Paul learned to be content in every situation to be abased and to abound, free or locked behind prison doors. Which is a lesson we all could learn. He also said I have fought the good fight run my course well and I am leaving this life behind. It is our responsibility to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and preach the gospel of Christ to the world. Deut 8:18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God for it is He that giveth thee the power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant, so we are expected to give God the glory and praise and further the spreading of His Word. 1 Chron 22:14 I have prepared for the house of the Lord 1 Chron29:3- I have of my own proper good.. I was giving the value in todays terms of finances. Matt 17:24-27, Doth not your master pay tribute? He saith yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him saying... cast a hook take up the first fish. It does not say the money wasn't available just that Jesus gave Peter a task to do. It also doesn't say Peter hesitated he said yes and went to get the money. Luke 9:51-62 Jesus set his face to Jerusalem, and sent messengers into a village of Samaritans to make ready for him and they did not receive him,his disciples say we will command fire from heaven to consume them and Jesus rebuked them. And they went to another village. So they were traveling and were not received. John 1:37-43 two disciples ask Jesus Rabbi Where dwellest thou? He said come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt and abode with him that day for it was about the tenth hour. Luke 2:5-6 Joseph went up from Galilee to Bethlehem to be taxed with Mary his wife. The reference to the time spent in Egypt was taken from Jesus approximate age when they left and the length of time that passed until Herods death. I was told it is in the Josephus commentary book but haven't found the exact reference. Even if it was 1 month could you afford such a trip? Throughout the New Testament there are references to Jesus travelling with groups of people and I give you these in support of what I said.Matt4:18-25,Matt8:1,23,Mark 1:38, John 11:7 and the 84 I took from Luke 10 vs 17 and the 70 returned again with joy. vs 23 and he turned unto his disciples and said. vs 38 now it came to as they went, and I said possibly 84. |

20 | PLEASE EXPLAIN MATTHEW 19:8 | Bible general Archive 1 | lmf | 82866
Jesus said in Luke 4:18 ...He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted and at this time it appears your heart is broken. In the study of the people of the bible you will find people who had a heart for God yet they still made mistakes. King David for example the boy who killed the biggest terrorist of his time could not fulfill his dream of building a temple for God because, God said to him 1 Chron 4:28 you have blood on your hands. Yet Jesus is called the son of David. Read the Books of John get a revelation of God as Love-God is Love and that God loves you. John said God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world He gave up His only begotten Son. John 3:16. That means He gave up Jesus for you! For your salvation! In allowing God's Word to heal your heart you will find the peace youre looking for. And when the peace of Jesus rules your life you will find the direction of God for your life. One of the greatest gifts God gave man is freewill just as you and I have a choice to follow Jesus or live the worlds way your wife also has that right so while you seek God in your life pray for her and as her heart is healed you will both realize Gods plan for your lives.
