2 | Baptism by immersion for forgiveness? | Not Specified | kemcare | 238821
I started attending our neighborhood church and they seem to believe baptism (by immersion) is a requirement for the forgiveness of sin. Here's what's in their Belief/Doctrine "Individuals are reconciled to God only through Christ's blood (salvation, pardon, grace) through belief, repentance, confession, and baptism (water immersion) for the forgiveness of sin and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit." They base this on Mark 16:16, John 3:3 Acts 2:38 and Ephesians 2:8. This is the first time I've heard of this doctrine. If this is true how can so many churches leave baptism out of salvation and repentance? I believe I've heard there are different types of baptism's referred to in scripture. Not all are by water or total immersion. Would love to hear more about this. Thank you
