1 | josiebible, where does it say we can ask | Romans | josiebible | 92045
I am not sure if I answered this so if I have disreguard this one. Acts 2:4 "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. The initial evidence of being baptized with the Holy Spirit is that you will gegin to speak with other tongues. Acts 10:44-46 Speaking in tongues is for all who is fill with the Holy Spirit. Yes, if you are led to speak out in your heavenly language there will be interpretation. otherwise, it only edify's yourself. I can do that at home, by myself. I Corinthians 14:18 Paul spoke in tongues and was proud of it. Mark 16:17 "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues." Jesus said it is for all who believe: You believe and receive the gift by faith. In 1 Corinthians 12:30 Paul ask "Do all speak in tongues? He is probably talking about the gift of diverse kinds of tongues that are to be interpreted in the church service. This is one of the nine gifts of the Spirit listed in that chapter for the body of Christ. He is not speaking of the personal gift of tongues for the believer. Arent they two different things? It is just like the gift of faith listed in 1 Corinthians 12, tongues that will be spoken out and interpreted in the body, but all can have the ability to pray in tongues for personal edification. I need all the edification I can receive. But we do have to ask for it first. Thanks for the come back. joan

3 | Holy (GHOST) Received but not Realized? | Romans | josiebible | 92040
Bro., George: How encouraging you are! Thank you so much for the uplift. We all should be encouraging and trying to build each other up in Christ. My spirit is very uneasy with debate and opinionated people. I don't need any more scrambling of the brain. Ha! I am humbled to receive any gift the Lord feels I am ready for. Bro., George I did a lot of praying for wisdom and understanding and reading the bible and staying in bible study and reading good spiritual books to replace the ignorance. God loves worship and praising him for everything. If I was to give any advise it would be to start praising God for your gift, open your mouth and speak out utterences until you start speaking in your other language. Don't give up! It took me being persistant for months before I was ready to accept it and use it. Praise God he had mercy on me and forgave me of all my past sins. Thank you for your honesty and search for truth. Keep on seaking truth and you shall find it. Joann
4 | Searching for the truth | Acts | josiebible | 92035
I will try to answer this questain as best as I can but let me start out with John 3:3 "unless a man is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." because Many people today do not understand the new birth, so let me start there. Jesus explained in John 3:6 "flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit." So physically speaking we were already born, but spiritually speaking we need to be born again to receive the spirit of God. When Adam rejected the Lord and obeyed the devil (Genesis 3) he died spiritually. You see what I mean? God told Adam, "But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." Genesis 2:17) We know that Adam did not physically die on that day, for he lived to be 930 years old. What did die that day was Adam's spirit man. That is ,the real person that lives on the inside of the body. The spirit man will live forever somewhere. Your body is a house in which the real you, a spirit man, lives. Man must be spiritually born in order to go to heaven. The basic principle of how to become born again is to believe that Jesus is Lord. 2nd. Call on the Lords name. Acts 2:21 3rd. there must be faith followed by action. James 2:17 If we do all this than we will desire to be confessing jesus before man. Matt10;32 And if you truely believed than Jesus Christ should be Lord of our life. (The Boss or supreme authority)When we believe in our heart and confess Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour than God does something inside of us. The real you, the spirit man, is recreated and becomes alive.JOhn 3:6 "the Spirit gives birth to spirit." Basically the Holy Spirit comes into our life and causes our human spirit to be born again. 2 Corinthians 5:17 When you believe in Jesus and confess Him as Lord you are changed inside. Not your body and not your mind, but the real you, the spirit man. You pobably won't feel any different but spiritually speaking, you are a new creature! And most importantly we are no longer seperated from God. We now have fellowship with the Father and Jesus. Our name is written in the Book of life and we now are a part of the family of God. Praise God! Now our mind is what we have to guard against the sceams of the devel. He will try very hard to take us down. Did this answer your questain? Thanks for the questain, this makes me have to think in the spiritual relm of things. Joann
5 | Joann ... Why not use your gift ? | Romans | josiebible | 91962
Searcher, Yes I am talking about Romans 8:26-27 And you are right again. I did not say that properly. It is the Spirit praying through us. Wow, you have helped me to think about that in a better way. Now Searcher I went back to 1 Cor 14:14 and I was wondering what you think it means by your mind is unfruitful when praying in tongues? Thanks, joann
6 | josiebible, where does it say we can ask | Romans | josiebible | 91961
Searcher56, No problem with thinking differently as long as it goes along with Gods word. I will search the scripture that you gave me. I do agree with tongues are the least of the gifts. Thanks for the advise. Joann
7 | Joann ... Why not use your gift ? | Romans | josiebible | 91899
I am a new Christain who is filled with the Holy spirit. I do not totally understand the gift of the Holy Spirit, so I have had to go through a fear of it. I believe of course this fear is of the enemy and I am working through the doubts and fears of what man will say about me or to me.I also attend a Baptist church where there is little taught on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and most do not agree with it. I prayed for this gift for a long time and than when I got it it took me a while to believe it was really the gift of the Holy spirit. It just sounded so strange to me and I allowed satin to lie and tell me it was just a bunch of garble and meant nothing. I have since prayed to God to reveal to me the truth and His word says,"Acts 2:38-39"you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit for the promise is to you..." It is a promise if we ask Him. When I pray in tongues I am built up and encouraged. I believe God is praying a perfect prayer through me. It is a mystery and I certainly do not understand what I am saying but I am certain of one thing God is praying for my needs. I have just started telling family and friends that I have this gift and some have a strange look and tone in there voice and try to put more doubt in my mind that this is from my enemy. So you see what I am trying to say? Not that it is right for me to do that. I am not sure if this is a correct approach or not. Under the circumstances it might be the best approach for now. I am praying for God to lead me to the Church of His choice. I do know about 1 Cor 14. The way I understand this gift is that God seeks people to worship in spirit and truth and He loves for us to pray in tongues. When we speak in tongues in a Church it must be directed from the Holy Spirit and if there is not an interpreter than that is proof that that person should not have spoken out. This is not good for the unbelievers and believers either. A new Christain should be very careful with this don't you think? Well, it is late and I am so tired I can hardly think any longer. Hope this answered your concerns. Thanks for the responce. God Bless, Joann

Hi George, Isn't it so good when we finnally understand? That is why we must pray continually for wisdom and understanding. Or else our little pea brains can not comprehend it. God Bless you for your perserverence. I was so ignorant of the word for so long and it is so true that the truth will set you free. You said a lot when you said you just needed to accept through faith the promises of God. Gods will is for us to understand and be filled with the Holy Spirit. I love it!!!Praise God!!!! Thank you for the encouragement. Christain love, Joann

10 | Joann, "An unknown language?" | Romans | josiebible | 91896
Searcher56; Acts 2:4 "Says, and they were are filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the spirit gave them utterances." So sorry I miss qoted the correct words. I was thinking that what we are saying is unknown to us, so i knew what I meant but no one else would be able to read my mind would they? I am sorry about that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. God Bless, joann
11 | josiebible, where does it say we can ask | Romans | josiebible | 91895
Hi Searcher56; That is a good and fair questain and I am trying to remember where I got that from. I am new at this Bible study and not real good at saying what I truely need and intend to say. Here are a few verses that may help to explain where I am coming from. Luke 11:9-13 says: And I say unto you, ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children; HOW MUCH MORE SHALL YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO THEM THAT ASK HIM? In the Bible, when believers received the Holy Spirit, they began to speak in a heavenly language, Acts 2:4 says,"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." When you accept the Spirit's indwelling, your spirit will immediately have a desire to express itself in praise to God. The Holy Spirit will give utterance through you as you give Him permission.Does this satisfy your questain? If not I will do some more research. God Bless and thanks for responding to my remarks. This is how I learn to. Joann |

12 | Holy (GHOST) Received but not Realized? | Romans | josiebible | 91773
Hi George: I received the Holy Ghost and did not realize it for a while. I think it was because I did not understand. I Now speak in an unknown language that is a mystry to me. But I know this that God is praying through me a perfect prayer. And I am edified and encouraged. I am a new Christain and have a lot to learn and understand. The Bible does say this gift is for all who ask and believe. I do not speak in other tongues in Church or around other people who do not understand. This is between me and God and I want all that God wants me to have. Hope this helps. A Christain, Joann Any further questains please feel free to email me at jmmgjmrtn@earthlink.net

14 | Searching for the truth | Acts | josiebible | 91410
1Thess.5:23 says: Now May the God of peace Himself sanctify you INTIRELY; Intirely means wholly, full, totally, thoroughly, ect! If you believe and have faith in the word as THE absolute TRUTH and obey His commands, THAN YOU WILL BE PRESERVED COMPLETE, WITHOUT BLAME AT THE COMING OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, V.24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. Do you believe God is faitful, than you do well to believe that what His word says will come to pass. When you believe in your heart and confess " Jesus Christ is Lord," God does something inside of you. The real you, the spirit man , is recreated and becomes alive. John 3:6 says " the spirit gives birth to spirit. The Holy Spirit comes into your life and causes your human spirit to be born again. You can not figure this out with the human mind. It is of the spirit of God. John 3:3 "Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." "WoW" corinthians 5:17 tells us, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;the old has gone, the new has come!"When you believe in Jesus and confess Him as Lord you are changed inside. Not your body and not your mind, but the real you, the spirit man. You probably won't feel any different and you won't look any different but spiritually speaking, you are a new creature! You are no longer separated from God. You now are born of the Holy spirit. You have fellowship with the Father and Jesus. Your name is written in The Book of Life and you are a part of the family of God. Water Baptism is to take place after you are born again.Acts 8:36,37. Notice Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." Water Baptism is an outward sign of what has happened inwardly after we are born again.Romans 6:3-5.The baptism WITH the Holy Spirit is a filling of the Whole life of a believer with the supernatural power of the Spirit. We are BORN of the Spirit to be a part of God,s family. We are FILLED with the Spirit to be victorious and fruitfull in God's family.Acts 1:4,5,8. Acts 2:1-4. This was the beginning of the New Testiment Church age, which we are in now. We have the same Father, same Savior, same Spirit, same Word, and same Faith. They were the beginning of what is still happening today. The experiencing of the new birth and the baptism of the Holy Spirit will go on just like Acts chapter two, until Jesus returns. The Spirit of Truth is the Holy Ghost. JOhn 14:16,17. John 1:33, Jesus is the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit. To be born again is something that the Holy Spirit does. To be baptized with the Holy Spirit, or Holy ghost is something that Jesus Christ does.Acts 8:14,15. Acts19:2 If they were the same experience he would not have asked them if they had received the Holy Ghost yet. There are millions of Christians who believe in Jesus, but they have not received the baptism with the Holy Spirit. My prayer is that someone might hear the truth and receive the fullness of what God has for all of us. God bless! Joann |

15 | can u b forgivn if you once turned away? | Luke 15:32 | josiebible | 91266
Mat 22:14 New American Stand "For many are called, but few are chosen." I believe God calls and we have to prove ourself worthy to be chosen. I also believe that it is possible that the people that loose out and fall away could possibly be because they do not obey the first and greatest commandment in the law. Matthew 22:37 If we obeyed this command to Love the Lord Your God With All Your Heart And With All Your Soul And With All Your Mind how in the world could one possibly fall away? We are all sinner's and will fall short of the glory of God! In Mat 26:41 "Jesus told His disciples to keep watch and in prayer for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Mat. 26:31 "Then Jesus said to them, "you will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, I WILL STRIKE DOWN THE SHEPHERD, AND THE SHEEP OF THE FLOCK SHALL BE SCATTERED., God knows the weakness of man and allows forgiveness for our sins when we repent and turn back to Him. He is a murciful God. Mat 28:19,20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 Teaching them to OBSERVE ALL that I COMMANDED you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. I hope this has helped you as much as it has me. God Bless! JosiBible
