1 | Was it blood or just like blood? | Luke 22:44 | jenbrock | 70916
Blessings to you!! Some time ago i was reading about Christ's crucifixion, and being in nursing school, i was interested in the medical aspects of it. I found a website that explains your questions. The address is http://www.maranathabaptist.org/easter/crucify.htm In it, Dr. Truman Davis states: "It is interesting that Luke, the physician, is the only one to mention [the bloody sweat]. Every trick possible has been used by modern scholars to explain away this description, apparently under the mistaken impression that this just doesn't happen. A great deal of effort could have been saved had the doubters consulted the medical literature. Though very rare, the phenomenon of Hematidrosis, or bloody sweat, is well documented. Under great emotional stress of the kind our Lord suffered, tiny capillaries in the sweat glands can break, thus mixing blood with sweat. This process might well have produced marked weakness and possible shock." I hope this helps to futher your understanding of the subject and of the love of our Savior. Grace and peace! |

Praise God, my professor wants to talk about Christianity with me some more. I have a feeling that he is going to ask me about the bible. Do you guys have any suggestions on how i can prove to him that the bible is inspired by God, without Scripture (b/c i can't use scripture to prove my point if he doesn't believe it in the first place). thank you so much for your time and sharing your wisdom thus far on all of the questions people ask. it is such a blessing to learn from all of you!! |

6 | how much is a legion? | Not Specified | jenbrock | 41748
Matthew 26:53 says "Do you think i cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?" i understand why He said 12..one for each disciple and one for Himself. My question is, how much is a legion? in one soure i found a legion to be 3,000-6,000, but this was in terms of an army. Should a legion of angels be considered the same? if not, how many is a legion? Thank you so much! have a blessed day. jenny |

9 | what 3 thing are like the tongue | James | jenbrock | 37636
grace and peace lerno! In the book of James, he speaks of taming the tongue in chapter 3:1-12. James uses three examples to describe how little things can have mighty effects. The examples he uses are the bit of a horse, the rutter of a boat, and the spark of a fire. Likewise, our tongues can be the spark to light the fire of defilement and corruption in our lives. God bless you, and may the Lord bless you in mighty ways today! in His grip, jenny |

10 | what sin, is fiery indignation hell? | Heb 10:26 | jenbrock | 36570
Dearest brother!! Grace and peace to you today! To answer your question, i believe that the Life Application Study Bible that i have explains it much better than i can. "When people deliberately reject Christ's offer of salvation, they reject God's most precious gift. They ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit, the one who communicates to us God's saving love. This warning was given to Jewish Christians who were tempted to reject Christ for Judaism, but it applies to anyone who rejects Christ for another religion or, having understood Christ's atoning work, deliberately turns aways from it(mark 3:28-30). The point is that there is no acceptable sacrifice for sin than the death of Christ on the cross. If someone deliberately rejects the sacrifice of Christ clearly after understanding the gospel teaching about it, then there is no way for the person to be saved, because God has not provided any other name under heaven by which we can be saved (acts 4:12)." So, the sin that is being referred to is that of denying Christ, after fully understanding the teachings of the gospel. As to the fiery indignation, it is hell. For if we deny Christ, we are eternally separated from Him, and from Heaven. May the Spirit bless you in mighty ways today! your sister, jenny |

11 | Romans 10:9: is it too simple? | Rom 10:9 | jenbrock | 36440
Dearest brother, I am writing this response kind of quickly, so i hope that it makes sense, and i just pray that if any part of it is not Truth, the Lord will enable the words to be erased from memory. To confess Jesus as Lord is to confess that you are a sinner, and that jesus is "the way" to redemption from your sin. It is one thing to say Jesus is your Savior, but to actually proclaim Him as your Lord is to completely abandon yourself to Him, and allow Him to rule (be Lord) over every aspect of your life. (which as we all know is very difficult due to our sinful nature and the fact that we are a part of this world). Belief in the resurrection is acknowledgement that christ "was returning to [his] Father..to [his] God..."(John 20:17). ONly through His resurrection were we able to receice the Holy Spirit,so that we might be His witnesses here on earth (acts 1:8). This verse does make it seem easy to receive your salvation, which it is in respect to the fact that all we physically have to do is accept the Truth. You must accept you are a sinner, that Jesus is the Son of GOd who has come to redeem you and bridge the gap between your sin and the Father, and that He is alive, with the Father (which would enable Him to be Lord of your life). I hope that this has in some way helped you to understand this verse more clearly. Grace and peace to you, jenny |

12 | God to kill Moses | Ex 4:24 | jenbrock | 34632
Blessings to you! God was about to kill Moses because Moses had not circumsized his son. "Moses could not effectively serve as deliever of GOd's people until he had fulfilled all of the conditions of the Lord's covenant". Circumcision was one of these such conditions. Under old testament law, if you failed to circumcise your son, you were "removing yourself and your family from GOd's blessings." So why didn't moses circumcise his son earlier? He lived half of his life in Pharoah's palace, believing to be his son, and the other half in the desert with the Midianites. Therefore, he was unaware of these laws. Grace and peace be yours today Your sister, jenny -the quotes are from notes in the Life Application Study Bible. |

16 | 1 Corinthian 4:9 | 1 Cor 4:7 | jenbrock | 34385
Grace and peace to you on this glorious day our loving Father has created! This chapter begins with Paul saying that we (believers) are all servants of Christ. And because he is an apostle, he often feels like he is put on display, a pedastal if you will. He says that just since he has the title of an apostle, people hold him in higher regard. But if you will look at verse 7, he states why he does not like/agree with this type of treatment. 1 cor 4:7 "For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?" He says that we are all the same, having all received the same gift. That no one should be held superior to his brother because all of the things we have to offer have been given to us by Christ. also with verse 6, Paul is saying that it is easy to have a favorite leader, one who you display, and he warns us against it, for favortism often causes division among believers. I hope this helps In His grip, jenny brock -The last comment is taken from a note in the Life Application Study Bible |

17 | what was the actual location | OT general | jenbrock | 31046
Grace and peace to you. I have recently studied the tabernacle in some detail, and if I understand correctly, this is how the sacrifice ritual went: Any member who wanted to make atonement would bring the animal, from either a herd, flock, or bird depending (lev. 1), and present it to Aaron, or one of the priests. THe way the tent of meeting is set up is the outer area in the tent of meeting and the tabernacle is another dwelling place located inside the tent of meeting. When you walk inside, there is an altar there. This altar is where the animals were killed and sacrificed by Aaron or another priest for whomever brought the animal. However, once a year, the high priest would go inside the tabernacle, which consists of the holy place, and the holy of holies. Only the priests were allowed inside the holy place, and only the high priest was allowed in the holy of holies. Inside the holy of holies was the ark, with the mercy seat on it. And once a year, the high priest would go in and make a sacrifice for all the sins of all the people. I believe this is Yom Kippur, which is still celebrated by the Jewish population. I hope this helps your understanding of this ritual. May you go forth filled with the spirit, rejoicing in the fact that Jesus was the ultimate Lamb!! Your sister, jenny -Exodus 40 also kind of helps to explain this. |
