1 | Pastor preaches about men body parts! | Luke 22:26 | jcdm327 | 172910
I agree w/your pastor "that Hollywood and renown painters show men and Jesus as soft and effeminate." However, This pastor described a "real man of genius" from the bud light commercials. Men very much in touch with his flesh. If I were in your shoes I would not be afraid to "in your pastor's vein of thought" rock the boat. Be a man and stand up for what is holy. Let me recommend a book. Paul Coughlin, No More Christian Nice Guy: When Being Nice - Instead of Good - Hurts Men, Women, and Children, (Minneapolis: Bethany House Publishers, 2005). 224 pages. Foreword by Dr. Laura Schlessinger I agree w/justme jcdm327 |

I always thought the faithful souls of the old covenant went to Abraham's bosom. However, after Jesus finished His work on the cross, believers went to heaven. jcdm327 |

3 | Baptism a second time? | Matt 3:11 | jcdm327 | 172908
Friend, Baptism does not make you a Christian; you are baptized because you are a Christian. It is an act of obedience to the Lord, Jesus. It is an outward sign of an inward work. If you do not let the inward work happen, the outward sign is in vain. Paul teaches us to crucify our flesh. We are to die to our fleshly, carnal wants and to live after the spirit. If you do not crucify your flesh, but rather continue to live after the flesh, your baptism is in vain. Your faith in Christ caused your spirit to be re-born. You will need to feed your new spirit and kill the flesh so you will not fall into temptation. Then sin, then death. Grace then Peace, Jcdm327 |

5 | Homosexuality, sin or not? | Lev 18:22 | jcdm327 | 172472
Paul addresses it eary in his letter to the Romans Notice verse 26 and 27 Roamns 1:22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[c] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[d] unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. |

6 | homosexuality | Lev 18:22 | jcdm327 | 172470
Friend, You are miss lead. The Bible does not say "God loves you for "who and what" you are, and loves you no matter what" He does love you even if you choose to go to hell. His love for you was expressed in a way to keep you from going there. Jesus willfully died on a cross, in your place, so you don't have to go. and if you are going to use Jesus to get to heaven, He requires repentance, humility, and obedience. After all, he is the LORD, Jesus Christ. The Bible does say John3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Verse 36 ...and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” God in his love gave you free choice. Duet 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that you ... may live; The fact is people who willfully sin, are doomed for judgement. There no longer remains a sacrifice for sin. Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, Romans 1:27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[a] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, The King James version uses the word reprobate instead of debased. (I use the New King James) The english dictionary defines reprobate as : Rejected by God and without hope of salvation. It is good that you are asking for answers. It means you have not totally lost your knowledge of God. There is hope. I pray that you will acknowledge and accept God's truth about sin. Humble yourself before our loving God, confess your sin, and repent. In addition, God will forgive your sins and cleanse you from all iniquity. If not then Hebrews 10:27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”[e] says the Lord.[f] And again, “The LORD will judge His people.”[g] 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Find a good church that will help you out of your sin and into God's mercy and grace. Not a church that does not expect you to change. James Chapter 1 Helped me win over temptation with patience, and I rejoice because the trials will make me stronger, Every time I resist temptation it makes me stronger. Better prepared for the next urge to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Satan is a liar. We can overcome. James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Praise the Lord, Jesus Christ because the joy that follows is beyond any thing the flesh can do. Grace then Peace jcdm |

7 | Authority to Ask God for One's Needs | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172232
Authority to ask for ones need? Yes you have the authority to ask. Need is relevant. If you repent from your sins and submit to the Lordship of Jesus, you have the authority to ask for forgiveness, and you will be given the faith to receive it. If you need a job to support your family, He will provide. ASK. SEEK KNOCK Jesus' name is not Lord. Lord is his title. If he is our Lord, we obey him. If we obey him, he will supply our need to fulfill his commands. He commands us to love. He gives us that ability. If he needs you to have 15 jets, to preach, you will have 15 jets. Maybe he wanted Joni to show crippled and whole people, that his grace is sufficient I remember the story of Joni. Before she was injured, As I remember. She was a "Christian" but not devoted to God. Diving was everything to her. After her injury, there was anger at God, grief, depression, and the whole spectrum of emotions. John 9:1 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works (GLORY) of God should be revealed in him. Oh how much God loved a man that he would be born blind? Therefore, he could reveal himself. Is Joni glorifying Jesus now, or was she glorifying Jesus as a diver? Why is it so important to you that Joni walk? Does she NEED to walk? Did God fall off His thrown because Joni cannot walk? On the other hand, perhaps your theology is a bit carnal? Are Joni's "needs" met? Yes Has God forsaken her? No Can people see the grace of God in Joni? Yes Can people see God's Glory in us? I was healed of scoliosis when I was 20. My children prayed for their pet bunny's broken leg, and God healed it. I saw a chain fall off a neighbor's dog. It was wrapped around its leg, causing pain. I could not get it loose. I asked Jesus to help me. The chain just fell off. I needed a job to provide for my family. I made a petition, and received every word on it. One day at Church youth camp I came in at the end of the service at the altar call. I was not really allowed to be there. People pulled strings so I could visit my girl friend. The preacher asked if anyone wanted the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues. I said to my self, "I think I'll take that." I went up and received. All of these glorified God. I asked God to heal my eyes. He did not. About 20 years latter my water heater blew up in my face. It burned my hair and skin and I saw the flame hit my glasses. I still wear glasses. Healing my eyes would not have been a good gift. God gives good gifts. Joni E. winning the gold medal in the Olympics might have cost her, her soul. Hmmm Surely Joni will be wearing GOLD in heaven. Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. And that not of yourselves; Is talking about faith. The faith is not even ours. IT is a GIFT. Rom 12:2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. 3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, Grace then peace, jcdm327 |

9 | Was it just the money? | Luke 23:43 | jcdm327 | 172160
I believe that Judas did repent. He returned the money, and confessed that he had betrayed an innocent man. Judas committed suicide. Peter denied Jesus, and ran. Judas' confession is interesting. He said Jesus was innocent, but not Lord.Hmmm. What did he think before? What crime did Judas believe Jesus was guilty? Judas betrayed Jesus for a reason. Was it just the money? Hmm. Not to mention that Judas was stealing money from the group. I don't guess Judas ever knew Jesus as the Savior from sins. Did Judas ever submit to the Lordship of Jesus? Either way, God's judgement is righteous. |

10 | Abiding | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172159

11 | Abiding | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172157
Read all of John 15 Abide as the branch abides in the vine. An old Pastor of mine was a vine dresser. He taught us a lot about the grape vine. The vine will send out two branches. One will bear fruit, the other is just a sap sucking branch that is cut off. The next season the branch that bore fruit becomes the vine and two branches will grow from it. One bearing fruit, the other to be cut off. As the branch abides in the vine, and bears fruit, it becomes the vine. Notice vs 11 ...that our joy may be full. Then vs 13. As we become like Him, we will act like Him, and love like Him. As we abide in the Word, we become like the Word. John 1:1 say Jesus is the Word. Therefore we become like Jesus. Did the Father withold any request from the Son? Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. |

12 | Show me the money | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172156
Luke 12:15 the men were slaves/servants. Paul said that he was a bondservant (slave by choice) of Jesus Christ. God has given to each of us a talent/job. In addition, he expects there to be fruit. John 15:8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. The sons of Eli were wicked. I Samuel 2:12 Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the LORD. 13 And the priests’ custom with the people was that when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant would come with a three-pronged fleshhook in his hand while the meat was boiling. 14 Then he would thrust it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; and the priest would take for himself all that the fleshhook brought up. So, they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there. 15 Also, before they burned the fat, the priest’s servant would come and say to the man who sacrificed, “Give meat for roasting to the priest, for he will not take boiled meat from you, but raw.” 16 And if the man said to him, “They should really burn the fat first; then you may take as much as your heart desires,” he would then answer him, “No, but you must give it now; and if not, I will take it by force.” 17 Therefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD, for men abhorred the offering of the LORD. They were taking the best parts of the offering not given to the priests in the Law. This caused the people to despise sacrificing to God. I think the world sees some of the TV evangelists who live extravagant lives, and then beg for money. Moreover, it causes sinners to judge their hypocrisy and despise Christianity. |

13 | Show me the money | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172154
I have not followed Copeland for many years. However, because of his faith teachings (not the wealth and prosperity message) I learned how to recieve from God. I recieved healing, experienced 7 miracles, and found a job that met every request on my petition. I got exactly what I asked for. I don't beleive Copeland is teaching that God wants everyone to be millionaires. But even as Israel prospered under Solomon, I think God blesses His children that love Him. God gives the power to gain wealth, but I don't think everyone can be trusted with wealth. The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the righteous. Well since the wicked have no treasure in heaven, It is not just a spiritual wealth we are supposed to inherit. It all belongs to God, and he will entrust it to whomever He pleases. Luke 22: 35 And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.” |

15 | Authority to Ask God for One's Needs | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172150
I would agree, but I think it is a conditional promise. I believe this is for the believer who is sold out 100 percent to God. He has denied the flesh and is walking in the spirit. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. |

17 | Goodness | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172147
Trying to measure ones goodness compared to that of Christ? I guess in a way, the young man realized he was missing something. Something Jesus had that he wanted. It appears he thought that eternal life was a "reward" and was asking Jesus what good thing he should do to inherit it. Eternal life is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus first addressed the young ruler's statement rather than the question. You call me good. Only God is good. Jesus was indirectly acknowledging his deity. Then Jesus answered the question. The rich young ruler asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answered. You know the commandments: 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother. 20"Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy." 21Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." Jesus said " do not murder, steal, lie, steal etc. all of theses man can obey. The key to this verse is in what Jesus did not say. Jesus did not mention the first two commandments. Thou shall love God with all your heart... and thou shall not have other gods. Jesus was pointing out to this young man that he was not obeying all the commandments. He had ignored the first two commandments. His god was his riches (money). In verse 24, Jesus said "“Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! NKV Are you asking if we should compare our goodness to the goodness of Christ to see if can measure up? That effort would be futile. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it (faith) is the gift of God; 9 not because of works, so that no one may boast. NASB I hope this helps. God Bless you. jcdm327 |

18 | Jesus told disciples take a sword ? | Luke 22:36 | jcdm327 | 172120
Thank you for responding. I understand the commentators you posted. They did not quite answer my question except that perhaps the reason was to give Jesus a clear opportunity to teach the disciples the consequence of the sword. As a side note: I am sure this rebuke finalized Peter's confusion. I love the drama of Peter and the disciples during the next few days. They were so sure Jesus was going to destroy Rome. Peter was ready to fight to the death for this cause. He even demonstrated is zeal in the garden. Jesus' rebuke must have really baffled him. His heart was totally broken, he was confused, and he was probably overwhelmed with every emotion possible. The human drama is so real it is almost comical, because we can identify with it. Jcdm327 |

19 | through the spirit? | 1 Pet 1:2 | jcdm327 | 172117
Friend, Although Jesus died for our sins, was raised from the dead, and ascended to the Father, Man is unable to obey the truth of God without the Holy Spirit. Peter. Cast lots to see who would replace Judas before he received the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:26 casting lots was an Old Testament tradition, when the Holy Spirit was WITH men but not IN man. After the Holy Spirit came and FILLED them, they never cast lots again. They did as the Spirit led them. When Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, God said man would die. Man indeed died spiritually. He could no longer commune with God on a spiritual level. Man lived according to his flesh. His spirit no longer controlled him. He only fellowshiped with God through Preists, Prophets, and the Law of Moses. Jesus said, "we must be born again" Jn 3:16 In John 7:39 Jesus said ...those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit... Our spirit is reborn by faith in Jesus Christ and repentance. Now we can again fellowship with the Father because our spirit is new. "Born Again" Jesus sent us HIS HOLY SPIRIT to dwell in us so we can obey The Father and be his witnesses. Acts 1:8 but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me. Answering your question; what is obeying the truth through the Spirit? Obeying the truth is being a witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ by testifying what He has done in your life. Paul teaches Galatians 6:8 for he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. In contrast to obeying the truth by the Spirit, read Rom 1:24-31. These sins are what man does when he neglects to worship God. God gives us the ability to obey his truth only by the Holy Spirit fellowshipping with our newborn spirit. It is impossible to obey God without the Holy Spirit. Paul's letter to the Romans is hard to understand if you are new in the faith. I would suggest www.twft.com and listen to the teaching on Romans by Chuck Smith. |

20 | Jesus told disciples take a sword ? | Luke 22:36 | jcdm327 | 172115
Why did Jesus tell his disciples to take a sword, then rebuke Peter for using a sword? I understand Jesus' rebuke. My query is directed towards the having a sword. There is no Biblical evidence that the disciples needed a sword. Besides Peter, non of the followers ever used a sword.
