1 | Is masturbating wrong? | Bible general Archive 1 | jamine71 | 80046
Although some consider masturbation the "safest" method for sexual gratification, without actually committing the actual act, I think that the answer to this question lies within the answer to another question; What are your thoughts during the act or masturbation? Keep in mind that you don't have to "go all the way" to commit the sinful act of adultry (or fornication). According to Matthew 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If no lustful thoughts are entertained, in my opinion there's nothing wrong with masturbating. But we've got to be careful not to allow those things to enter our minds during the act, which can be more of a challenge than most of us should go up against... |

2 | Only 144,000 virgins in heaven? | Revelation | jamine71 | 80025
Thank you for sharing these beautiful scriptures. I'd like to remind you though, that I am not a Jehovah's Witness. Nor am I "deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel". I'm simply reminding anyone who is reading this that we are not the Judge and that the way that each of us feels about our religious beliefs and understanding of The Bible is the same as others feel about their's. And that it's by love and the direction of the Holy Spirit that we will be capable of sharing the Word Of God to all who will hear and recieve it. I won't get into a debate as to who is right or wrong. -I am confident that my relationship with God is sincere, definate, and loving. In the same respect though, Who am I to say whether a person of any religious belief isn't just as dedicated and sincere about their relationship with God, as they know him? All of the scriptures that you've mentioned here are very strong and important (as are all of the scriptures in the Bible) and should be applied effectively to determine our faith and dedication to God. I've only pointed out the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses (and those from other religions) could also use these same scriptures to their advantage. For example: 1 John 4:2-3 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. All who have "intensly" studied with the Witnesses would know that they definintely believe that Jesus Christ is from God and "is come in the flesh" and that Jesus gave his life as a ransom sacrifice for our sins. They don't deny that Jesus was in human form or that he "is from God". Where the beliefs differ is that Jesus "IS" God. Just as an FYI, if you'd like to know what Jehovah's Witnesses truly believe (which I'm sure that some will check out just to have more tools to debate with and some will check out with true sincerity to find out what they believe and why) you can visit their website at http://www.watchtower.org/library/jt/index.htm I find it sad that individuals listen to other people's opinions as to what other religions, who they haven't extensively studied (whether it be for just for research, to see why other's believe what they do, or out of their own personal search for the "true" religion) believe instead of researching it for themselves. If they did, they might find alot of inconsistancy in that person's (mis)understanding of the other religion. Again, for anyone reading this, please find out for yourself what God desires of you. Please don't let anyone (including a preacher, Bible study teacher, parent, anyone...) do the research for you. It's your own responsibility to develope and cultivate your relationship with God. In the end, he will be your judge, no matter what any man has to say. Thank you again, for sharing these wonderful scriptures with us all. They all support my reason for writing my first note on this topic. That is; Galatians 1:3-5 3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. With Love.. |

It is still my belief that "putting down" any religion isn't what we need to concern ourselves with. Throughout the Bible it seems to be that when Jesus knew that someone had been mislead or was confused or with question, he gave them knowledge of the true facts without "putting them down". If we focus our energy on getting God's Word, to our understanding, to people who need Christ in their lives we will be fulfilling our obligation as Christians. As I said before, there are alot of things that one can say about any religion to make that religion not seem as sincere as the one that they choose to follow. It is by faith that we believe. Jehovah's Witnesses have faith in their belief. Prodestants (with all of the "mini religions" that fall under this cateragory) have faith in their belief. Catholics and Muslims theirs... We aren't here to grind someone's belief into the ground or to diminish one's faith. Rather to lift up the name of Jesus and to praise God Almighty and to live our lives as closely in the shoes of Jesus Christ as is possible. The article that you have listed the URL to is titled "Jehovah's Witnesses in a Nutshell". -My suggestion to anyone who is "really" interested in learning what the Witnesses truly believe and why, is to welcome a study with them. Ask them questions. Tell them why you agree or disagree with them. Give them the opportunity to show you why the believe the way that they do and take the opportunity to share what you believe to be The Truth and why as well. I don't recall Jesus ever running from the opportunity to share The Good News with anyone, even one who didn't initially have the same faith as himself. You might learn something. Or at minimum, you'll at least give them the opportunity to learn something from you. Let's not put people down, but instead lift them up and share God's Word with them. Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. With Love, Jamine71 |

I've also studied in depth with Jehovah's Witnesses. I think that we can find a sarcastic way to desribe what any religion believes. Although I am not a Jehovah's Witness, I do understand alot of their teachings. I also understand that they did not find their teachings of the by being mislead by the "Annointed". They are diligent Bible study students who feel like their understanding of the Bible is one of sincerity and "truth". And they try hard (sometimes too hard) to live their lives according to their understanding of the biblical laws. They find their understanding of "the other sheep that will enjoy life on paradise earth" based on the scriptures at Psalm 37:11 (But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace) and Psalm 37:29 (The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever)-KJV. Their belief regarding the 144,000 who will reign in Heaven with Jesus comes from these bible verses: Revelations 14:1-5 The comment in the previous note that "The Witnesses believe they are the only "true" Christians can be applied to most religions. Most religions believe that the beliefs of their people is the right one or "the truth". I don't know that criticizing any religion is what we can find most beneficial, rather, being open to listening and talking to people of other faiths can be beneficial to both the giver and the reciever because it offers the opportunity for each to present their own understanding of the Bible to one another. Maybe one can be brought to Christ or "the truth" (which ever you prefer) this way. Pray for those who might be confused or mislead and continue on with our own personal spiritual growth and relationship with our Heavenly Father. Putting down one's understanding of the Bible isn't for us to do. GOD IS AND WILL BE OUR ULTIMATE JUDGE. Don't be found guilty of trying to fill that role. My prayers are with all of those who are confused as to what the "truth" is. |

Your comment is very well spoken. I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you for summing it up as well as you did. Sometimes people take these things too literally. Just as some take them for granted. I believe that reasoning is a very important part of understanding the messages in the words of the Bible. Although God is the same as he was when these words were written the first time, I'm sure that he had the best interest of those of us who would be born generations later, in a more modern world, in mind. Some of these things that we question, like whether a woman should cover her hair to speak in church are things that we have to pray about and to find our own peace with. I believe the question that is to be asked is; Will women who don't cover their hair or who share the responsibility of teaching God's Word in church be damned from eternal life? If this is the case, what then happens to the man who allows is wife to share in the responsibility to work to support their family? We do live in times were it might be necessary for the woman to work full time or to get the Word of God to those who need to hear it. Really, do we need to be so concerned with "who" spreads the Word of God rather than that everyone has the opportunity to hear it and to live it? Or even what she wears on her head, if anything, while she offers her hand in the sharing of God's Word? |
