With peace....if you don't have peace about something, don't do it!! Instead, wait till you feel that peaceful, comfortable sense of God's presence and grace upon something. |

I don't know who the people are that you mention, but even sin can be a "comfort" to so many people....still doesn't make it godly. If people believe in Jesus, and what He did for us at the cross, they WILL have comfort...but also peace, joy, love, goodness, kindness, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.... |

Hi Tim 3:16! I believe I was being cautious when I said that being a brother of Jesus should be enough for us. To further illustrate my true belief regarding this, we can look at 2 Chronicles 2:5 The house which I am to build is great, for our God is greater than all gods. Clearly, even if we are "gods" (little g), God Himself is above and beyond any of us. However, as far as participating at being God, ponder these scriptures, and let me know what they speak to your heart. Thanks, and God bless! John 3:21 But he who practices truth [who does what is right] comes out into the Light; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are--wrought with God [divinely prompted, done with God's help, in dependence upon Him]. (Notice Light is spelled with a capital L, so it may be safe to say that if we come out "INTO THE LIGHT", that we are participating at being God. John 3:34 For since He Whom God has sent speaks the words of God [proclaims God's own message], God does not give Him His Spirit sparingly or by measure, but boundless is the gift God makes of His Spirit! (Since the Holy Spirit lives in us, again, we are participating....God cannot enter into this world and do things Himself...He can't witness to other, can't perform miracles without inteverntion on our part through prayer or laying on of hands, and can't battle tempation for us....instead He gives us tools and the weapons of our warfare found in Ephesians....we have to participate, because God cannot enter the world that is laden with sin, He must have servants to work through in order to perform His mighty works....even for Jesus, this was true as we see in the following: John 10:33-38 33The Jews replied, We are not going to stone You for a good act, but for blasphemy, because You, a mere [a]Man, make Yourself [out to be] God. 34Jesus answered, Is it not written in your Law, I said, You are gods? 35So men are called gods [by the Law], men to whom God's message came--and the Scripture cannot be set aside or cancelled or broken or annulled-- 36[If that is true] do you say of the One Whom the Father consecrated and dedicated and set apart for Himself and sent into the world, You are blaspheming, because I said, I am the Son of God? 37If I am not doing the works [performing the deeds] of My Father, then do not believe Me [do not adhere to Me and trust Me and rely on Me]. 38But if I do them, even though you do not believe Me or have faith in Me, [at least] believe the works and have faith in what I do, in order that you may know and understand [clearly] that the Father is in Me, and I am in the Father [One with Him]. (One with Him indicates my definition of participating with being God). Finally, take a look at these: John 14:23 Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him. John 15:4 Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. John 15:6 If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned. So Brother, it appears that there is no way we can do anything for the Kingdom of Heaven without God in us, and without us in God. Maybe "participate with" God is a misnomer. Perhaps "ABIDE" is more appropriate...either way, I think that God is more concerned with what we think of Him, and not ourselves, and more pleased with us that we are at least "setting our minds on Him" and not the world. I thank you again for your input, and look forward to hearing back from you! God bless you! Brother Brian |

I believe the teaching we are receiving from television is somewhat correct, but it goes to context. Basically, if you read John, you will find many references that come close to saying that we participate in being God. John 12:36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light [have faith in it, hold to it, rely on it], that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light. Jesus said these things, and then He went away and hid Himself from them [was lost to their view]. So it seems that we participate in being God, because God is love, and the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts. We are sons of the light, and therefore we must be Light, because light cannot be darkness. I would prefer to think of myself as a son of God as Romans 8:14 says: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. This leaves little questions for debate. We must all be careful not to assume an identity of the deity soley reserved for referring to the Almighty, however, we are indeed brothers of Jesus Christ, and as a Christian, that should be good enough for us! Having said all that, we must remember that Jesus Himself said "these things I do, you shall do, and even greater things than this." Hallelujah!!! God bless us one and all! |
